Full description of the position

Position Summary:The Refined Petroleum Products Trader will be responsible for developing profitable commercial opportunities around Kinder Morgan pipeline and terminal assets. This role requires the development of strong relationships with trading team members, analysts and scheduler/operators and many trading counterparties, brokers and strategic partners. Kinder Morgan operates approximately 3,000 miles of refined products pipeline that serves Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington and Texas. The applicant should have excellent experience within this geographic region and clearly comprehend U. S. petroleum logistics and the global refined petroleum products market. The role requires the ability to create and develop profitable opportunities and to identify and manage the associated trading risks that these opportunities create.Primary Job Functions:Leverage business development colleagues, external relationships and market intelligence to negotiate and execute term and spot contracts for sales and purchases of finished products and blend stocks to maximize netback realizations for the companyPurchasing and selling finished products and blend components for third party sale on a for profit basis.Maintain essential knowledge of infrastructure for commodity marketsDeveloping and managing refined petroleum products blending and storage positions utilizing internal and third party storage locations and distribution terminals.Evaluating markets, market trends and communicating with other trading teams.Utilizing the futures and derivative markets for hedging / price exposure management and optimization.Monitoring location, time and blending arbitrage opportunities for refined petroleum products, refined petroleum products related components, blending and trading to capture opportunities.Ensuring all trading activities are conducted within appropriate authority limits, risk controls and internal trading guidelines.Accurate and timely trade capture, position matching, marking and commercial margin calculation / validation.This position will be responsible for a host of daily, weekly and quarterly duties including participation in operational conference calls, maintaining market price database, updating internal business overviews/status reports, and preparing senior management reports, as well as other duties, as needed. Position Requirements Job Requirements:Minimum Requirements:Education:Minimum of a Bachelor's degree combined with a minimum of 7 years refined petroleum products marketing and trading experience.Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.Required Experience/Specific Knowledge/Skills:Strong logistics and trading knowledge of the domestic U. S. refined petroleum products market, notably the West Coast and Gulf Coast and its interplays with international trade flows, including an in-depth understanding of products pipelines and terminals logistical assetsExperience and expertise in managing refined petroleum products storage locations.Proven ability to develop new business relationships and to capture new opportunities.Self-starting team player with the ability to multitask in a dynamic team environment.Mainly focusing on physical marketing and trading but also knowledgeable in the use of futures and derivatives.Strong analytical and communication skillsProficient with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook.A satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and a current valid state driver's license is required.Willingness to meet after hours work needs and to travel, both on an as needed basis.Preferred Experience/Specific Knowledge/Skills:Experience in the sourcing and trade of feedstock (used cooking oil, tallow, and vegetable oils) to be used to produce Biodiesel and Renewable Diesel Fuel a plus. Expertise in Ethanol, Biodiesel, and Advanced RIN trading activities a plus.
