PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deepens relationships with our members, and creates brand advocates, by providing tailored financial solutions that benefit the member and the credit union, long-term.
• Facilitates the process of securing collateral and liquidating repossessed assets through auction and other vendors.
• Assists Collections Manager with special projects and duties, as needed.
• Responsible for collection processes on delinquent accounts which may include automotive, unsecured, overdraft, credit cards, mortgages, and NuPal loans. Efforts include direct communication with the member, skip tracing, initiating legal action, and/or assigning repossessions while following established processes and procedures.
• Manages late stage and high liability accounts, such as: bankruptcy filings, repossessions, and collateral liquidation.
• Builds and maintains professional business relationships with vendors such as insurance companies, auto auctions, dealerships, police departments, attorneys, repossession companies, etc.
• Assists tellers and call center representatives with overrides and questions on accounts in the collection queues.
• Serves as subject matter expert in collections, provides guidance,and assistance to team members when issues arise.
• Manages monthly charge off process, to include researching joint accounts, gathering loan paperwork, and processing charge off recommendation.
• Follow policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations.
• Maintain integrity and ethics in all actions and conversations with or regarding credit union members and their accounts; comply with privacy act directives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience

•  5 plus years related work experience in first-party collections is preferred, though financial institution, lending, loan servicing, or automotive sales experience are also applicable for this role.
