Position Overview
The Sales Engineer supports sales productivity and deal flow by playing a key role in the “technical close” of complex energy storage solutions. The Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting all phases of LG ES Vertech’s sales process, including but not limited to: opportunity qualification, reviewing and preparing comments on specifications and tender documents, responding to Requests For Proposal (RFP), proposal development, customer submittal preparation, and providing equipment functionality and capability reports. They also act as technical liaison between Sales, Applications Engineering, and Production. The Sales Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle and work collaboratively with LG ES Vertech’s Systems and Project Engineering Teams. Primary Responsibilities
- Support sales team in defining opportunity fit & potential, as well as the tendering and bidding processes
- Lead the pre-quote assessment of commercial and technical fit by proactively scoping the technical and commercial solutions required to address customer requirements, assess customers’ met and unmet needs, and recommend solutions that optimize value for both the customer and LG ES Vertech
- Coordinate with other engineering functions to secure input from all necessary stakeholders within the customer’s company and other industry sources that have technical impact including Independent System Operators.
- Adapt solutions, as necessary, to ensure appropriate support for LG ES Vertech and the customer’s end goals
- In coordination with the customer’s technical representatives and responsible agencies, secure the technical information required to ensure not only the “technical close”, but also future solution deliverability, e.g. interconnection requirements
- Write a technical proposal in response to the RFP
- Actively support presentations to customers and ensure clear answers to requests for clarification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of the electric power industry from both a products perspective and a customer requirements perspective.
- Some exposure or experience writing complex utility scale construction proposals (for example: substation design and construction, power plant design and construction, etc.) is a plus
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues
- Ability to respond calmly and tactfully when solutions and ideas are challenged
- Experience in any facet of electric power project development, including permitting, providing subcontracted services or equipment, engineering, or construction is a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products and AutoCAD.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and time management skills
- Ability to solve problems creatively
Education/Experience
- 4+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer in power systems engineering or similar field
- Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in Engineering, or related field.
**This position requires overnight travel (both international and domestic) to customer and non-customer sites (30%)**
