Ashley Furniture Store is seeking a highly skilled professional for our Team (Sales) Captain.

As the Team Captain, you will manage sales staff and are charged with the responsibility to achieve maximum growth and optimum profits from sales through Metrics for the assigned location. Sets and adjusts sales goals as appropriate; responsible for overall operations of an assigned retail location in the absence of the Store Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises the Sales Team, and store operations as needed during the Store Manager’s absence. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Responsible for managing the store KPI's (Key Performance Indicators)
  • Support sales staff on the floor by continually coaching, motivating, and training daily
  • Handles escalated inquiries from sales staff or front office
  • Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures
  • Observes sales associates ensure daily duties are performed and gives concise feedback for continuous improvement
  • Conduct sales meetings – New items, modifications of product, price updates, discontinued items, and upcoming promotions
  • Develop individual sales goals
  • Monitor and track traffic flow
  • Monitor the UP system
  • Report and discuss sales goals and issues with the Store Manager
  • Provide reports
  • Schedule sales floor to ensure full coverage
  • Review all sales orders daily
  • Sales Floor – pricing, tagging, promotion, and organization
  • Knowledge regarding furniture location in the showroom and the merchandise
  • Daily Closeouts – count money
  • Ensures merchandise is prepared in accordance with specifics of sales promotions events
  • Ensures sales staff conducts themselves in a professional manner that is appealing to visitors, customers, and other associates
  • Recruiting new sales staff on a regular basis
  • Responsible for responding to alarms in the store, and answering phone calls from alarm companies in case of issues. Cancel dispatch (if applicable) or meet officers or firefighters at the store at any time of the day/night.

  • Energetic, self-motivated sales professional with exceptional interpersonal, listening, and communication skills, bilingual a plus!
  • Ability to network and build relationships with customers
  • Competitive, goal-oriented nature with the ability to work well in a team environment
  • Flexibility to work a 5-day retail schedule that includes nights, weekends (both Saturdays and Sundays for Full Time, either / or for Part-Time), and most holidays.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Previous sales experience in a retail commission-based sales environment is a plus, but not required
  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

· Provide a High School Diploma or GED

· Possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common publications related to the field of expertise (sales & finance contracts, delivery orders, etc.)

· Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or vendors

· Ability to calculate figures (discounts, interest, commission, percentages, area, etc.)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Three to five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer literacy includes a working knowledge of standard business applications (MS Outlook, Word, and Excel), in a Windows environment.
