Full description of the position

Costa Fruit and Produce Company is a New England-based mid-sized foodservice distributor with an accent on fresh foods. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Director of Business Development committed to both his or her and our success!

The Director of Business Development will manage our existing sales teams, but also looks for new markets, spots new growth opportunities, and work to build the company’s exposure and brand. He or she will constantly be on the lookout for new opportunities to expand the business and will be responsible for working within the company's senior leadership team to develop strategic plans to create new revenue generation opportunities.

In this capacity, the Director of Business Development will manage and direct a sales staff of approximately twenty inside and outside representatives and develop sales budgets and create solid plans to achieve goals established by the company.

Additionally the Director of Business Development will:

  • Manage and oversee and manage both an inside and outside sales force.
  • Conduct a weekly sales call with the outside sales force to discuss market conditions and other matters related to their job performance.
  • Hold quarterly face-to-face sales meetings and weekly sales calls.
  • Maintain an active list of strategic prospects.
  • Collaboratively works with Costa’s Marketing Director and Senior Profitability Manager.
  • Be the primary contact for certain national customers and local chain and multi-unit accounts.
  • Constantly update the company’s customer prospect list.
  • Be on the constant search for new and emerging markets.

Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a Sales or Business Development role.
  • Minimum of 5 years of client-facing experience with demonstrated experience as a pro-active leader.
  • Minimum of an Associates degree, Bachelors degree highly desirable in this role.
  • Prior sales managerial experience.
  • A recent and proven track record of success - everything she or he touches turns to gold!
  • Strategic marketing knowledge and experience; recent work history.
  • Keen knowledge of the Northeast hotel and restaurant marketplace, both independent and multi-units.
  • Excellent industry references.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
