Halvor Lines is seeking a Customer Service Representative (Transportation Coordinator) to join the team in Superior, WI. This role is responsible for establishing contacts and communicating with new, existing, and potential customers and brokers to solicit and book freight. Creates and builds customer relationships. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain Initiates contact with existing, new, and potential customers and brokers in order to secure freight and find opportunities for freight.
- Books freight and makes appointments.
- Communicate in a professional manner while working as a team.
- Plans and coordinates deliveries and pickups with the customer or broker, while verifying driver has proper HOS to complete the delivery.
- Ensures the information on pickups and deliveries is accurate prior to sending it on to the appropriate Fleet Manager.
- Follows through to ensure the customer and/or broker loads are picked up, delivered on time and carried out within the customers’ expectations. In doing so will also interact and follow up with the Fleet Managers.
- Responds to Web tenders and load confirmations utilizing EDI.
- Maintains on-going customer and broker relationships.
- Maintains up-to-date awareness of the industry trends and customers and brokers business status.
- Utilize transportation software to its full potential. Request additional training as needed
- Verify load information appears correct in TMS, correct errors as needed.
- Document customer issues within CRM and communicate with sales department as needed.
- Communicate driver performance issues to Fleet Manager.
- Attends staff meetings and training programs, as requested.
- Communicate with Logistics on overflow freight opportunities.
- Provides backup to other Operations staff as needed.
- Attends work consistently and punctually. Requests time off per policy.
- Ability to achieve goals set forth by management.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Education &/or Experience:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in Transportation and Logistics strongly preferred.
- A degree in Transportation and Logistics can substitute for experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong customer orientation
- Excellent customer service, influencing, and negotiating skills
- Knowledge and understanding of the FMCS Regulations and other transportation principles
- and operations
- Ability to thrive in a high stress environment with constant interruptions and call volumes.
- Must be flexible and patient in dealing with changing situations
- Must be proficient with computers and relevant software applications
- Requires ability to safely perform job duties and ability to follow instructions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
