The Inside Sales Associate/Back-up Driver will act as a Sales Associate for the retail store by selling products to businesses and industrial customers.

JOB SUMMARY:The Inside Sales Associate/Back-up Driver will act as a Sales Associate for the retail store by selling products to businesses and industrial customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Sells industrial, medical and specialty gases, welding supplies and related equipment to customers.
- Solicits sales with existing and potential customers and handles all associated paperwork to document those sales, quotes or other information which may need recording for future reference.
- Arranges for delivery of cylinders and hardgoods and maintains showroom displays.
- Assists customers with merchandise and loading and unloading cylinders.
- Demonstrates use of equipment and advises customers on equipment and materials needed and procedures to follow to complete tasks they wish to perform.
- Establish and maintain good customer relations and answers customer questions.
- Communicate in person and on the telephone with customers, providing information on cost, ordering and delivery times.
- Monitor customers needs and work with them to maintain proper hardgood and cylinder levels to minimize or eliminate emergency deliveries.
- Check accounts receivable status of accounts; talk with the salesman or credit department about past-due accounts and contact customer regarding payment as well as collect money as required.
- Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed; including coding, costing and pricing.
- Maintain neat, clean and professional personal appearance.
- Coordinate with purchasing department any product shortage or outages.
- Ensure all administrative and accounting related procedures are strictly observed.
- Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed.
- Deliver products to businesses, industrial, and medical gas customers intermittently
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform as Backup Driver as needed.
- Operate forklift and other equipment as required.
- Assist with inventory, housekeeping, showroom displays, and demonstrations as required.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.

Has never been disqualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle according to the provisions of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, §391.15 and §383.51 within the last seven years (i.e., suspension shall not have been active within the last 7-years.).
No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years.
No more than two (2) moving violations in the last 3-years or one (1)moving violation in a commercial motor vehicle in the last 3-years.
No reckless driving in a commercial motor vehicle.
No hit-and-run convictions.
Driver applicants that can meet all the qualifications required to drive a specific type of company vehicle and have driven a commercial motor vehicle in the military can be given credit for that experience by providing a military issued document that confirms their experience.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Customer Service or Sales experience preferred.
Welding Certificate from an accredited technical school, college/university, or equivalent combination of education and experience a plus.
Must have 12 months’ experience with Straight Truck or Bulk Straight Truck, or Driving School Certificate
Class A or B CDL with HazMat endorsement with airbrakes
Industry and related product knowledge, as well as experience with properly handling compressed gases, preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Experience with SAP and/or a production planning module preferred.
Experience with onboarding computers a plus.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimal (0 – 10%)
COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write routine business reports and business correspondence in English.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and safety data sheets using the English language.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
CDL Class A or B with airbrakes; HazMat endorsement required.
