As Director of Social Catering Sales, you will be responsible for the development of the local catering market including solicitation of new customer relationships, and the negotiation of business through proposals and contracts to close business. Reporting to the hotel’s Commercial Director, this position will oversee the Catering Sales Managers and Catering Sales Coordinator.

Position Summary:

As Director of Social Catering Sales, you will carry a personal revenue goal tied to the development of the local catering market as well as an overall team goal. This position will be key to finding new business opportunities and ensuring that the Catering Sales Managers are achieving their revenue goals as well. This position will identify upsell opportunities with catering menus and events to maximize revenue and overall event experience. Maintain existing relationships with corporate and social accounts. This position primarily handles complex social events. Once contracted, the Director of Social Catering Sales will turn over bookings to the Events Team to execute the program.

Specifically, your essential functions will be to perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • To organize, plan and prioritize your duties by developing plans and goals.
  • Timely communication to internal and external clients via telephone, email, written documents or in person.
  • Create and maintain relationships with clients to set and meet client expectations and deliver on those expectations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of job systems, products, systems, and processes.
  • Resolve conflicts and negotiate with others while handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts.
  • Selling and influencing both internal and external clients.
  • Representing Hotel del Coronado at tradeshows and industry associations as required.
  • Winning new annual, large social events and corporate customers.
  • Assisting the Director of Events with monthly, quarterly forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Make decisions and solve problems by analyzing and evaluating the issues and determine the best solution.
  • Ensure high quality service by communicating and assisting others to understand the guest needs, providing direction and guidance, feedback and individual coaching when needed.
  • Lead customer site inspections to create a WOW and assist Catering Sales Managers in the sales process as necessary.
  • Other duties as necessary based on business needs.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Catering Sales leader in the local market with well established relationships who can secure new events for Hotel Del, while maintaining existing relationships with our top local clients. Someone who is outgoing and creative and able to find new ways to generate incremental revenue through the booking of social and corporate events. A team player who also supports the Catering Sales team and their goals. Ideally, a candidate who is passionate about luxury resorts and the iconic Hotel del Coronado in particular.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Hospitality Degree
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 5 years’ experience
  • Management Experience (type): Supervisory, Director
  • Minimum Years of Management Experience: 3 Years of Above Listed Management Experience
  • Any Licenses or Certificates Required: Enter Licenses or Certificates Here
  • Additional Requirements (i.e. % of travel time, etc.): 10% of travel time
  • Budgeting, forecasting and PL responsibilities: minimum 3 Years’ experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: CME, CMP

Salary range is $90,000 to $120,000 depending on experience.

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum Years of Experience: five (5) years Hospitality related experience at manager level.
  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in hotel management.
  • Other requirements: Travel percentage: 10%
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
  • Knowledge of the hotel property management systems (Delphi.fdc)
  • Significant experience in revenue management or a similar analytical role
  • Relevant degree, in business development or other relevant business field, from an academic institution (CMP, CPCE)
