Position Summary
As part of the Corbion global sales team, the Biomaterials Account Manager North America (NA) will be joining a rapidly growing business and be accountable for the sales, business development, and customer relationships in the pharmaceutical, controlled drug delivery, orthopedic, cardio, medical-device, trauma, 3D printing, and wound-closure markets. The position requires technical aptitude and relevant selling experience in order to sell resorbable polymers in our markets of interest. You will service existing customers and develop new opportunities through knowledge of our resorbable materials plus customer needs and applications. As the Biomaterials Account Manager NA, you will be responsible for building and achieving the annual sales budget for Corbion Biomaterials in NA. Develop high, wide, and deep customer relationships to achieve the sales growth targets while engaging cross-functional internal departments to ensure customer satisfaction. This position reports to the North American sales leadership. The Biomaterials Account Manager must stay informed on market trends, global customers and competitors alongside the global sales team and other global Corbion teams.
Responsibilities
Meet or exceed approved annual sales and growth budget while developing a reliable pipeline of sales growth prospects.- Build and maintain strong working relationships with existing accounts as well as prospects in NA, identify customer needs and provide appropriate sales support to maintain and grow both existing and new accounts.
- Analyze industry trends and competitive activities to identify and actively develop new sales opportunities in NA to strengthen the competitive position and grow the business. Participate in building the growth strategy and priorities for the Biomaterials business in NA.
- Participate in selected multidisciplinary NBD projects to contribute to implementing the growth strategy of the Business Unit.
- Develop, plan and implement strategic selling plans, qualify customer targets, achieve sales objectives including volume, profit and expense to accounts.
- Attend conferences and shows to network, develop sales leads, promote Corbion market leadership and name recognition.
- Develop and maintain industry knowledge to provide appropriate and innovative customer support.
- Develop and maintain good working relationship with global teams as well as Biomaterials departments (incl. CS, NBD, QA, R&D).
- Conduct business reviews with accounts and develop opportunities to penetrate account.
- Maintain accurate and current records including call reports, expense reports, and sales pipeline updates.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Bachelors of Science in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Biology, Chemical or Polymer Engineering, Life Sciences or the equivalent, advanced degree is a plus.- Minimum of 5+ years prior experience selling and account management, with a relevant or similar product line selling to customers in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and wound closure markets with a track record of consistent and successful growth.
- Strong Account Management and technical aptitude strongly desired.
- Relationships or past sales contact with customers preferred.
- Relevant industry experience and familiarity selling products made under cGMP conditions, strongly preferred.
- Should be able to identify best methods to bring products successfully to market.
- Ability to integrate and analyze data.
- Strong negotiations skills a must.
- Must be a self-starter able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, creativity, energetic, and adaptability to changing situations.
- Ability to understand the customer’s needs and develop appropriate solutions.
- Experience and ability to call on customers across many departments and at all levels including the highest level executives required.
- Computer skills and experience with MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, CRM, and Power Point required.
- Travel up to 75%.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and passport.
