An Associate degree from an accredited college in business administration, accounting or related field plus two (4) years of experience in business development or closely related field. Training and certification from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) preferred. A High School Diploma or GED plus eight (8) years of experience as defined above may be considered. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite required. Familiarity with automated purchasing system (HTE) and accounting systems preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Floridas Drivers License and have an acceptable, safe driving record.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Code 2: Non-essential employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency but may be required to work during an undeclared emergency or in the aftermath of an event associated with a declared emergency. On an incident by incident basis, the employees Department Head will make the determination when the employee will be required to work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Under general supervision, performs business development responsibilities in assigned Department, to include serving as the first point-of-contact for new and expanding businesses in Palm Bay; serving as a business liaison to internal departments and external regulatory agencies as required. Responsible for responding to inquiries as it relates to economic development projects and activities. Coordination with local resource partners to meet the needs of the local business community. Work involves the use of computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Some independent judgment and initiative are required in performing assigned duties. Reports to assigned Department Director.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Economic Development related functions to include serving as the first point-of-contact for new and expanding businesses in Palm Bay. Serve as a business liaison to internal departments and external regulatory agencies as required. Respond to inquiries as it relates to economic development projects and activities, to include project leads from EDC and State. Prepare data analyses, market research and program best practices as needed. Responsible for compliance with annual reporting requirements as it relates to incentive programs (i.e. AVT Abatement Program). Conduct business retention site visits and/or calls. Participate in ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremonies for new and expanding businesses in Palm Bay. Coordination with local resource partners to meet the needs of the local business community, such as local economic development practitioners, workforce development, financial and lending institutions, educational and technical institutions, chambers of commerce, community stakeholders, realtors/brokers, and various private and not-for-profit entities. Serve as a board secretary for the Bayfront Community Redevelopment Agency and the Business Improvement District. May be tasked with coordinating and/or making oral presentation to organizations, homeowners association, and other groups as appropriate related to economic development updates, programs and initiatives. Performs administrative duties and compiles data for special projects or reports, as assigned, ensuring completion by specified deadlines and in accordance with outlined goals and objectives as assigned by the Department Director. Utilizes computer applications extensively such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Project. Develops spreadsheets, data bases etc. to streamline work efforts.
