While the business was first founded in 1980 as a waitress staffing agency offering a flexible source of income for women in the arts, today we provide food service in an array of celebrated New York City cultural institutions. You will find Great performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Wave Hill, and The Apollo Theater, among others. We are equally known for corporate workplace dining and amenity programs, and of course, full-service catering, special events, and culinary festival production. Great Performances is the nation’s first caterer to own and operate its own organic farm, Katchkie Farm located in Kinderhook, NY. Progressive from the start, we consistently set the pace for industry best practices.
Focus:
Selling dynamic, off-premise catering events and overseeing their coordination and execution. Present our brand and services to potential clients and maintain returning clients. Collaborate with internal department heads including culinary, design, and marketing. Oversee and collaborate with a Catering Operations Coordinator in the creation of event proposals, menus, equipment, and staffing orders.
Requirements:
- 5-10 years demonstrated success in planning and executing events in responsible positions
- Must have a strong sales track record
- Keeping up with industry trends is a must
- Excellent communication skills, with the know-how to engage clients, and network to source new business
- Knowledge of style and design principles and their application is desirable.
- The successful candidate will have a sophisticated d presence and a keen eye for detail
- Must be passionate, enthusiastic, creative, love food, and love working with people.
- Must be a team player
- Most importantly we are interested in candidates who are hungry for developing more business opportunities, understand the art of the sale and of hospitality and possess the quality or disposition of receiving and treating clients and guests in a warm, friendly, generous way
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Prior managerial experience is preferred
