Responsibilities:

The Key Account Manager, Healthcare (North America) plays a critical role in the success of Silgan Dispensing Systems' healthcare business. This sales leader reports directly to the Vice President of Healthcare Sales & Marketing and leads business development, contracting, pricing and sales in accordance with our North America healthcare strategy. This position also requires partnering closely with SDS manufacturing and project management teams to generate new and incremental growth and increase customer satisfaction.

The successful Key Account Manager, Healthcare (North America) will:

  • Drive sales and business strategy to establish SDS as the preferred partner and expert in nasal pumps, ophthalmic droppers and dermal dispensing systems for healthcare and Pharma uses in North America.
  • Penetrate new customer accounts, connecting key customer personnel (including product development teams, procurement, legal & regulatory) to key SDS internal resources to drive partnership and business growth opportunities that deliver mutual value.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our customers’ business strategies, market positioning and their brands’ consumer perception to identify new product opportunities that lead to new business development and pipeline projects.
  • Expand busines relationships beyond customer’s procurement organization by proactively engaging with R&D, Marketing and Supply Chain to better understand customer's needs and value drivers to ultimately provide better solutions and service
  • Understand and leverage SDS’s competitive advantages: product performance, supply chain efficiency, patient benefits to position SDS as the supplier of choice over competition
  • Be an active "voice of the customer" on customer needs, innovation opportunities, and project execution with cross functional partners in the business.
  • Develop and implement winning value propositions leveraging "insights selling" practices.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions against both current and new business that drive growth, protect margins, and reduce risk for SDS while maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Adopt and execute SDS Commercial System/Tools to manage account planning, pre-call planning, needs assessment, value selling, pipeline management, and Salesforce.com CRM systems.
  • Support sales leader in establishing sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for his or her territory; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Business, Science or related field.
  • Ten (10) or more years of direct sales/ key account management experience; experience with a medical device or healthcare/pharmaceutical packaging company specializing in creative packaging or related products is preferred.
  • Ability to learn and apply new approaches and stay on top of the latest marketing and sales techniques, technologies and tactics that complement organizational sales efforts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience in working in a decentralized organization with home office activities and frequent travel (up to 50% mainly in North America).
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated to exceed sales growth results.
  • Ability to understand and apply financial and business acumen.
  • Excellent computer skills including use of Microsoft Office.
