POSITION SUMMARY
The Account Manager is responsible for driving the account-specific and prospective sales activities including operations through the acquisition of new business and growth of existing customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the growth of the sales as well as the customer relationship
- Oversee transactional and contractual freight opportunities
- Prepare rates and proposals to prospective new clients and existing accounts
- Build strong relationships with existing clients and increase our scope of business every month
- Make phone calls to new prospective customers & existing customers to generate new opportunities and grow book of business
- Drive peak performance and develop sales strategy to penetrate and grow accounts
- Drive Max Buy performance and other key initiatives & processes internally
- Collaborate with Director of Sales and Sales Executives to build new opportunity pipeline and identify new customer targets.
- Conducts Customer Business Reviews, along with Sales Executives
- Oversee SOP management and drive service performance with Load Planners and Operations teams.
Non- Essential Functions:
- Attends all required training and staff meetings
- Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor towards customers, visitors, and co-workers
- Adheres to all policies and procedures of DeSpir Logistics
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 3 years’ experience within transportation, logistics, and /or brokerage environment preferred
- Deals mostly with tactical/spot accounts, while making a high volume of daily outbound calls
- Developing strong phone presence and ability to overcome customer objections to sell Despir transportation services with confidence
- Proven track record in sales, business development, account management and relationship building
- Knowledge of the operational attention to detail that will be required to succeed within the industry
- Ability to multi-task and work well with others in a fast-paced environment within strict time frames
- Passionate about customer service and solving problems with customer experience in mind
- Mathematics and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Entrepreneurial, pro-active spirit
