Full description of the position

Vice President – Business Development
Company: Avangrid Service Company, an Iberdrola/Avangrid company
Location: Portland, ME


Direct, develop, and implement business development strategic plans for Networks. Direct and monitor the progress of the company’s growth initiatives and its competition to ensure that all goal benchmarks are met, re-evaluated, and adjusted as needed. Monitor and interpret all trends that occur within the industry. Evaluate market size, competitor accomplishments, and industry standards and structures. Facilitate the company’s mission and develop short-and long-term strategic growth objectives. Establish business plans for all new company initiatives and business ventures. Partner with business area leaders to direct and identify triage business development and growth opportunities. Seek partnership opportunities with external vendors and organizations. Assist in the company’s Research & Development opportunities.


Telecommuting permitted up to 30%.


Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Must have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field, and 9 years of post-bachelor’s, progressive work experience; OR a master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field, and 7 years of related work experience.


Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:

  • Developing financial models, including cost of services models to energy infrastructure and commodity models for the energy market.
  • Developing investment pitch materials.
  • Implementing regulatory strategies for cost recovering transmission investment, including developing cost of service models and merchant models, and filing for the necessary federal and state regulatory approvals; and
  • Identifying transmission opportunities across the US and creating a 10-year outlook.

Of the required experience, must have 4 years of experience in the following:

  • Negotiating long term transmission contracts in Regional Transmission Operators (RTOs); and
  • Creating and managing a team to respond to energy and transmission solicitations.

Must have 2 years of experience in developing and executing strategic Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) to grow business in the Energy industry.


Telecommuting permitted up to 30%


International travel required up to 5%. Domestic travel required up to 20%
