SALES LEAD
D.L.Lee & Sons, Inc. is 90 year old processor and distributor of premium quality meats and products to the Southeastern United States. Our 120,000+ square foot state of the art production facility is under expansion to meet the demands of our growing customer base. We are seeking an experienced and aggressive industry professional to join our Sales & Account Management Team. This person must have retail sales experience in the meat industry, a proven track record of exceptional ability to build and maintain business relationships while increasing sales volume. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of further processed protein sales experience, buying/forecasting experience and a proven track record of territory development and relationship building.
KEY TASKS:
- Develop, maintain and create new and existing sales and distribution. Define markets suitable for product lines.
- Development of creative ideas to capture sales and market share, while optimizing price and product mix.
- Project a business appropriate image to customers and sales representatives. Must be comfortable presenting sales meetings and product presentations to corporate accounts.
- Oversee handling of customer questions regarding availability and pricing. Coordination of order executions and customer services issues.
- Develop a thorough understanding of retail sales and logistics.
- Participate in national and regional food show activities. Interacts with potential leads, responds to inquiries and provides timely and appropriate follow up with customers.
- Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Flexible and willingness to assist in other areas of the company as needed to solve problems and accomplish objectives.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Meat knowledge is required; 5+ years experience in meat related field required.
- Associate's degree; Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University preferred.
- A considerable degree of competitive product awareness is important for effective negotiations and understanding of the factors involved in production, delivery, etc.
- Proven leadership skills, ability to lead and coach a sales team effectively.
- Self-directed and ability to work independently.
- Experience with purchasing, pricing and ad planning is a plus.
- Accuracy, organization and attention to detail required.
- Ability to adapt to conflicting deadlines and priorities established by company demands.
- Excellent planning, organization, leadership, presentation, decision making and analytical skills.
- General computer knowledge and proficiency. Experience with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
- Strong English and communication skills, including speaking and writing clearly and effectively.
- Communicates effectively with all levels of employees as necessary both verbally and in written form.
- Work to the highest professional standards and represent the company in an exemplary manner.
- Ability to maintain confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Must have regular and punctual attendance.
