Sales Representatives Role, Expectations and Responsibilities
Role Summary
This fleet / commercial sales representative position will represent the value proposition of the Chuck Hutton Chevrolet company’s Business Elite and Medium Duty truck sales channel. This role works collaboratively with internal stakeholders in all disciplines of the company, to include new vehicle readiness, accounting, service and parts departments; and external stakeholders, specifically up-fit partners that supply products and installation of commercial up-fits. Position handles incoming calls and request from customers which require the colleague to have a detailed working knowledge of the Chevrolet product line up, possess sound decision-making qualities and a have solid understanding of up-fit providers and their capabilities. In addition, candidate will need to become proficient in identifying municipal and government purchase opportunities and how to meet those prospect’s bid / procurement requirements. Position requires self-direction and the ability to apply complex business rules to achieve business objectives and profit targets. Some travel will be required to make in-house calls on accounts.

Responsibilities
Regularly – weekly - monthly
Monthly Planning – sales team members will spend 50% of their selling time out of the dealership. Sales team members will do an analysis of each customer’s previous purchase information including electronic profile information and sales information in DealerSocket and CDK to better prepare for each call and look for selling opportunities at the customer level. Proficiency in prospecting and identifying opportunities online will be expected as well as effectively sales call routing to effectively utilize out of store selling time.
Documentation – Sales team members are expected to have detailed notes from every sales call including what was discussed, any commitments that were made with deadlines, as well as any competitive information, and will be placed in DealerSocket. A separate weekly call report may also be required.
Time Management – Sales team members are expected to maximize the hours of 9:00am-3:00pm; “Prime Selling Time” to call on customers. Planning, office time, un-related meetings, and conference calls should be scheduled outside of this time when possible. Sales team members are expected to schedule non-critical sales functions either prior to 9:00am or after 2:00pm.
E-mail/Voicemail – Sales team members are expected to respond to e-mails within 48-hours and voicemails within 24-hours. Each sales team member will be responsible to set up and record a temporary greeting on voicemail and an out of office message with details on their availability and estimated return, when they are out of the office for an extended period of time with no access to voicemail or email.
Weekly
Account Management – Sales team members will schedule X days out of the office weekly calling on existing accounts and prospects to keep the sales pipeline full of opportunities. The prospect list will be updated quarterly. Sales team members should discuss all deals and opportunities with sales manager.
Reports – Sales team members are expected to utilize the sales and customer reports in DealerSocket to register activities. Leadership will review these activities from DealerSocket.
Deal Template – a copy of the deal template will be completed for every purchase proposal.
Meetings – Sales team members are expected to attend association meetings as requested.
Monthly
Concur – Sales team members are expected to process their expenses as directed in order to be reimbursed on their payroll check within company guidelines.
Complete all training requirements within assigned timeline.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma and 5 -7 years of professional customer account specialist experience (understanding of debits/credits, incentive resolution and sales processing) or Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated telephone skills a must.
- Strong interpersonal skills in a multi-team environment required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (with a strong working knowledge of Excel) is required
- Have a personal cell phone that could be used while employed
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test to qualify
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 per year
