Full description of the position

Delta Dental is seeking a Sales Representative - Inside Sales at Delta Dental of Missouri. Through the establishment of mutually agreed upon outbound call protocols, coupled with prompt and courteous receipt of inbound sales calls, promote and sell individual dental (and vision) coverages to individual and family prospective buyers. Moreover, this role will build awareness and demand of our individual and family products through the brokerage channel. Provide assistance to prospective customers using verbal, written and electronic (email and chat) channels. Guide prospective customers through the eCommerce application, Payment Gateway and manual enrollment process. Investigate and resolve all issues concerning pre purchase/post purchase eligibility, payment, billing and enrollment processes.


Responsibilities

  • Develop a sales "talk tape" to best position us for sales success in the individual and family markets after completing a comprehensive review of our peer competitors' product and buyer/user purchasing experience.
  • Effectively sell our individual products to prospective customers and expand awareness of our individual portfolio with distributors including brokers and general agents/FMOs.
  • Guide customers as they make purchasing decisions. This guidance may include but not be limited to - (1) explaining differences in benefit plan designs and effective dates, (2) Completion of the application (both in eCommerce and via paper application) (3) Help prospective customers with rate calculations, premium payment cycles and payment options. (4) Help customers with registering on web portal and explain the functionalities available to them after enrollment.
  • Assist enrolled members in the individual market with making tier & plan changes at renewal, make notification changes, and explain rate and plan options when there is a qualifying event.
  • Analyze all eligibility, payment and billing problems and take appropriate action to ensure the rate structure used was calculated appropriately and the customer understands the billing requirements.
  • Perform necessary member outreach when there are notification failures, incorrect or insufficient premium payments, rate changes, changes in plan designs, etc. Outreach will be performed by phone, mail or email, using means other than the channel that originally failed.
  • Stay abreast of changes in benefit designs, rate structure changes, eCommerce application, system changes and manual process flows so effective facilitation can occur between the customer and internal work flow.
  • Respond to customer inquiries (written, verbal, and electronic including email and chat) regarding finding a participating provider.
  • Research sources for developing prospective customers including trade associations, non-traditional group purchasers, senior markets, and other opportune sources of individual and family customers.
  • Supply management with oral & written reports on customer problems and product needs in the eCommerce application, enterprise system and all ancillary applications and system flows.
  • Assist in the development and deployment of an individual and family product life cycle including input into plan designs, and those benefit features which may be added or deleted from our portfolio.
  • Assist with UAT testing of eCommerce and new website functionality releases.
  • Maintain a solid working knowledge of our group business and log into group queues when Individual Product queue call volume permits.


Education, Skills, Personal Attributes, and Experience Required

  • Associate degree or higher required; or equivalent applicable industry experience.
  • At least five years of health insurance industry related call center or sales experience required; dental insurance experience preferred.
  • Must have an active Missouri license for Health and Accident, and a reciprocal matching license for South Carolina. Maintain active license status for both states by obtaining required CEs.
  • Must have the ability to learn, comprehend and quickly maneuver through various screens and transactions utilized in rate calculation, eligibility functions, billing, benefit programs and provider information.
  • Proficient in use of office equipment such as PC, calculator, copier and fax machine.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal are required. Constant communication with the public and internal departments. Speaking voice must be clear and articulate.
