Primary Function

- The HERS Rater/Home Energy Rater reports directly to the Director of Field Operations and is responsible for performing measurements, verifications, inspections and diagnostic testing for residential homes and their applicable equipment and systems.
- As a HERS Rater (HERS Rater), you may perform the following tests and inspections: (1) Duct Leakage Measurement, (2) Building Air Leakage Measurement, (3) Adequate Airflow Verification, (4) Quality Insulation Installation & Air Infiltration Sealing Inspection, (5) Refrigerant Charge Verification, (6) Fan Efficacy Verification, (7) Hot Water System Distribution Verification, (8) Whole House Fan Measurement, (9) HVAC Equipment Efficiency Rating Verification, and (10) Solar PV Shade Analysis.
Non-exempt position
No Experience needed/On-the-job training.
Specific Duties
- Working with our central scheduling team to complete home inspections as determined by the project's scope of work.
- Completing field inspections, collecting data and photo documentation on assigned projects to document the scope of work compliance, which may include compliance with building codes, voluntary programs, and quality construction practices
- Working with builder clients and their trade subcontractors to help troubleshoot root causes of any issues found during field inspections
- Attending continuing education training sessions, including voluntary, mandatory, and those required to maintain certifications.
- Must complete all HERS inspections per the RESNET guidelines or California HERS protocols.
- Working with and providing training for the client’s field and trade personnel on Quality Built’s software platform
- Assisting with customer complaint resolution and documentation per company work instructions
- Communicating project status, updates, and changes to our central scheduling team.
- Adhering to company policies, processes, and work instructions to meet all applicable code/ISO/certification compliance requirements
- Submitting timely and accurate mileage, job costing and other financial reporting
- Maintaining and protecting all company equipment and supplies
- Monitoring, reviewing, and responding to all communication (email, phone, voicemail) promptly as required by company policy
- Other duties as assigned by (supervising manager, upper management, executives)

Education & Skills Requirements
Required
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must be able to meet the Physical requirements listed below.
- Reliable transportation, as this position, requires daily travel to and from our client’s job sites
- A valid driver’s license, clean driving record for a minimum of 5 years, and adequate auto insurance that meets company compliance ($100,000 bodily injury/$300,000 accident /$100,000 property damage)
- Strong computer and customer service (verbal and written) skills are a must
Preferred
- Current RESNET HERS Rater, Rating Field Inspector (RFI) Certification, CHEERS HERS Rater Certification, or CalCERTS Rater Certification
- Current ENERGY STAR Rater Certification and/or ENERGY STAR Multifamily Rater Certification
- Current EPA Type II/Universal Certification
- FAA Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Pilot License
*Candidates not currently certified as a HERS Rater or RFI will be required to obtain certification within 6 months from hire. Company paid training.

Standard Work Hours
- Normal business hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm). This position may require more than 40 hours per week including evenings and weekends. Some work will be performed via telecommunications from home. Travel may be required. Vehicle travel on behalf of the company requires possession of a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and adequate auto insurance that meets the company’s compliance minimums.
