Henry A. Petter Supply Company was founded in 1890 and is now in its fourth generation of family ownership! Our corporate office and main distribution center are located in Paducah, KY. In order to better serve our customers, we also have nine branch locations across seven states. Petter Supply is a full line Industrial Distributor including Marine supplies, MRO supplies, material handling, and supplies for various industrial and manufacturing industries. In addition, we have affiliate companies specializing in business systems, packaging, conveyor belt service, and fabricating/machine services. Our objective is to be the best overall supplier of products and services which consistently meet our customers' needs and requirements and exceed their expectations.
The Outside Sales Representative Role:
The incumbent will provide current customers and prospective customers with fast, accurate, and customized solutions for their supply needs. The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach and will be committed to the expansion and success of the business by implementing sales strategies that achieve profit margin and sales targets.
What You'll Do:
The Petter Sales Representative is responsible for maximizing and growing revenue and profits within their assigned territory by selling to existing customers and acquiring new business. Provide customers and prospects with fast, accurate, and customized solutions to meet their supply needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced team environment where they strive to provide our customers with the highest level of service and support.
· Must be able to build knowledge of Petter product lines, identify opportunities, negotiate sales, and manage business needs and cost requirements within assigned territory.
· Execute a sales plan that meets or exceeds revenue and profit targets.
· Be creative in finding opportunities to meet regularly with customers to understand their evolving needs.
· Conduct sales out in the field with both potential and existing customers.
· Develop a plan to identify and pursue new customer acquisition opportunities.
· Work with and coordinate vendor resources to build relationships and increase sales.
· Utilize ERP system and website to obtaining customer information, pricing and availability, and quote entry.
· Work closely with inside sales support team.
You Must Have:
- 5+ years' sales experience, preferably in the industrial and marine industry.
- 5+ years' industrial product sales experience including material handling, janitorial, PPE, safety, fasteners, construction products, etc.
- Strong working knowledge and experience using Excel, Word, Internet, and Power Point.
