Full description of the position

Position Title: Regional Retail Sales Director

Reports To: SVP, Head of Retail Banking

Department: Retail Banking

FLSA Status: Exempt


Purpose
: The Regional Retail Sales Director (“RRSD”) has a broad span of control leading a region of retail branches to achieve financial, operational and customer experience objectives through coaching, performance management, problem resolution and nurturing key partnerships. The RRSD directly manages branch managers (single site and multi-site) and may also manage individual contributors. The Regional Retail Sales Director actively participates in the development of sales and service strategies and executes against those strategies to enable achievement of regional performance goals.

The geography/footprint of this regional leadership role is southeast of the Rochester market. The footprint is generally within the outer points of Victor – Auburn – Elmira – Mount Morris – Honeoye Falls covering 21 retail office locations.

Essential Functions
:

  • Leads and influences to achieve branch network financial, operational and customer performance objectives.
  • Monitors business results/metrics and adapts sales strategies and tactics.
  • Develops and oversees the execution of unique branch performance plans.
  • Manages effective network of senior internal and external relationships, such as community or industry relationships, to actively introduce managers and acquire new clients and/or expand existing clients and enhance the customer experience.
  • Networks within the industry and may serve in a leadership role in the community, industry or region. Assists other team members in developing their network.
  • Leverages reporting and sales tools to proactively identify and coach team to successfully convert sales and service opportunities.
  • Develops team members – specifically branch managers – while monitoring progress against goals. RRSD’s will also support branch managers in the development of other branch employees.
  • Creates winning teams - motivates and develops staff, including identifying, acquiring, and retaining top talent and managing performance-based issues. Works with the Human Resource and Training Departments for recruiting activities to attract, retain and develop successful Branch staff.
  • Connects strategy to day-to-day activities and updates the team on a regular basis.
  • Collaborates with other departments and leaders to analyze demographics, market opportunities and competitive initiatives to develop a strategic sales process and culture unique to the specific region and in line with community banking objectives.
  • Champions internal business partnerships and advocates for referral opportunities across all lines of businesses.
  • Provides consistent training/modeling of the sales process by conducting regularly scheduled visits to their regional branches to ensure branch teams are following a disciplined approach in tracking and monitoring sales and service activities, behaviors and pipeline activities while providing superior customer experiences.
  • Develops customized sales plans for each Branch or Multi Site Branch using market data, competitive analysis, and product/cross sell penetration strategies.
  • Works closely with Operations and Regional Operations Consultants to ensure that Branch staff are properly trained and current in all areas of compliance, policy and procedures. Provides a consistent and disciplined approach for Branch adherence to audit policies, regulatory requirements and operational procedures.
  • Coach Retail sales team to develop consumer and small business relationships through expansion and, retention. Accompany Multi Site Branch Managers on business development calls within their community.
  • Assists Multi Site Branch Managers in resolution of unusual and/or difficult customer situations.
  • Demonstrates the standards and principles of the Five Star experience in every interaction with internal and external customers and associates. Incorporates the high-performance behaviors of teamwork, leading by example and service in every facet of work.


Job Related Qualifications – Education and Prior Experience
:

Required:

  • Prior Experience: 5+ years of management experience in retail banking or financial services with a focus on sales and servicing coaching and driving revenue growth, including 1+ years of successfully managing managers of multiple teams and office locations.
  • Licenses or Accreditation: Register with Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System registry (NMLS) and obtain a unique identifier that is provided to consumers in accordance with all SAFE Act requirements. Renew registration with NMLS annually. Maintains and updates personal registry information as necessary to include name changes, employment changes, etc.


Preferred:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
  • Prior Experience: 7+ years of senior management experience in retail banking with a focus on sales and servicing coaching and driving revenue growth, including 3+ years of successfully managing retail branch office managers of multiple teams and office locations.
  • Licenses or Accreditation: Register with Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System Registry (NMLS) and obtain a unique identifier that is provided to consumers in accordance with all SAFE Act requirements. Renew registration with NMLS annually. Maintains and updates personal registry information as necessary to include name changes, employment changes, etc.

Physical Requirements
:

  • Able to regularly sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able travel extensively within regional geography and corporate footprint
  • Regular computer usage is required.
