SHIFT's patent-approved, secure, cloud-based, AI-powered solution is deployed at large facilities throughout North America. SHIFT's solution integrates with the existing building infrastructure and addresses all aspects of the HVAC system, including chillers, boilers, and air handling units. It integrates with any building automation system, IoT devices and third-party data sources like event schedules and weather forecasts.
SHIFT is seeking a Director of Business Development to be the lead member of our Sales team. In this role you will be responsible for Business Development by targeting and closing deals with SHIFT’s top prospects. This will include establishing and retaining direct customer relationships with companies in SHIFT’s target markets in the US and Canada.
With both established and new relationships you will be responsible for identifying and developing opportunities in several industry sectors including commercial buildings, hospitals, higher education campuses, and event venues. For larger portfolio customers that have multiple sites, you will be the lead to own the relationship and close additional sites.
You will also work with our lead of Strategic Alliances to help in developing and expanding relationships with regional integration and services companies in the Energy Management sector that have complementary offerings which will bring a broader value proposition to potential customers. You will develop relationships that generate sales and marketing opportunities leading to accelerated revenue growth for SHIFT.

- Develop deep strategic customer relationships that grows the company's business.
- Develop and execute attainable sales strategy plans that are aligned with market needs.
- Perform pipeline tracking and diligent reporting on key activities in the CRM
- Identifying new market opportunities and work with our Marketing lead to pursue them
You have:
- A proven track record of identifying new business opportunities and converting them into customers
- Hunting in new markets and building new relationships is part of your DNA
- 7+ years of experience in sales / business development within the Energy Management Industry
- University Degree or Post-secondary in Business, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- The technical aptitude to discuss a broad range of topics such as HVAC, BAS, and ESG at both a working level and executive level
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at both senior and working levels
- Familiarity with the Energy Management ecosystems
- Comfortable with ambiguity, ability to quickly analyze and execute in a rapidly changing environment, take charge and make things happen.
- Independent and highly motivated with ability to seek out opportunities and solutions.
- Strong executive communication and sales presence.
- Exceptional written, oral and presentation skills
- Ability to write proposals and estimates
- Demonstrated ability to meet sales quotas
- Ability to travel in North America (estimated at 50%) and has a valid passport
- Ability to maintain a home-based office
Nice to Have:
- An existing network of facility manager/energy manager/sustainability managers
- A deep understanding of the competitive landscape and energy management eco-system in North America
- The candidate currently resides in the New England States and understands the market landscape and has existing relationships with master systems integrators, consultants and services companies in the New England region
