SUMMARY
The Company is currently seeking a Regional Sales Manager. This position will be responsible for wholesale sales in the State of Virginia and will be expected to travel throughout the State.
The Regional Sales Manager will lead a team of Account Managers and or Sales Representatives to develop and secure new profitable business with our products and maintain good relationships with our current customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- National Account Management – manage and grow existing business, execute approved plans to achieve optimum results consistent with the division’s sales objectives and profit plan, conduct business reviews, and maintain good customer relations at Regional and Corporate offices of Regional and National Retail Chains.
- New Business Development & Maintenance of Current Business – seek out new business. Retain a solid profitable business relationship between corporate and regional buyers. Maintain all current business at a profitable level.
- Sales Management – Under direction from the Vice President of Sales or Director of Sales, manages activities of direct or indirect reports (Account Managers or Sales Representatives that call on other regional offices or stores that role up to the corporate offices of the wholesale/ retail customer)
- Promotion/Trade Funds Management – Effectively manages all co-op dollars and ad allowances through the direction of the Director of Retail Sales or VP of Sales in the most effective and profitable manner
- Deduction Management/Credit Authorization – Assists in enforcing MDVA’s credit policies, and if necessary, assists Accounts Receivable Department with collections.
- Pricing – Coordinate pricing to all assigned accounts through the direction of the Director of Sales or Vice President of Sales. Become familiar with Virginia Milk Commission pricing and guidelines, including Federal Order #1.
- Knowledge of Industry – communication of all competitive activity, which affects the company’s volume and ability to effectively merchandise its products in his/her, assigned accounts.
- Sales Analysis/Sales Reporting – utilize existing and future systems tools to perform the job function, including analyzing syndicated data to support fact-based sales for branded dairy sales for specific customers in market areas. Responsible for all sales weekly itineraries and communication of goals and sales objectives for his/her assigned accounts and Team Members. Provide a recap of all sales activities in a formal weekly report to the Director of Sales. This will include category management utilizing fact-based selling skills and market data to partner at the corporate and/or regional level. This includes leading the sales effort on all schematics.
- Trade Shows/ Customer Vendor Functions – responsible for submitting entry forms, planning for necessary personnel, shipping booth, decorations, and samples to show site, setting up/teardown of booth per instructions from the VP of Sales or Director of Sales.
- Samples – Taking product samples out to potential customers for the purpose of demonstrating and comparing against the competitor’s product.
- Budgeting – responsible for submitting a budget for his/her assigned accounts and achieving those objectives.
- Legal – Observe all antitrust laws and implement all pricing in a fair and legal manner.
- Special Projects – handle special projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have at least 5 years of retail and/or dairy-related sales experience with preference given to those with a B.S. degree in Business or a related field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Highly proficient communicator (oral and written) with the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to convert units of measurement.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Must hold and maintain a valid VA driver’s license.
