Marlen is a privately held corporation headquartered in Riverside, MO. The company specializes in stainless steel food processing equipment primarily for the meat and poultry industry. This equipment includes vacuumizing pumps, size reduction equipment, continuous cooking ovens and chillers, surface treatment equipment, batch thermal equipment, and material handling equipment. We have an immediate opening for a Sales Support Specialist in our Riverside, MO facility.
This position description identifies the major responsibilities of this job. It does not include all aspects of the position such as the potential additional duties assigned by supervisors and the requirement for flexibility in helping others for the company's overall benefit.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sales Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the sale of company products to existing and potential customers in assigned markets to support the overall global business unit strategy. This position is primarily a sales support role with minimum travel. Must work out of the Riverside, MO location. In this role you will gain extensive experience working with Product Sales Managers and Regional Sales Managers for Marlen that are selling capital equipment to the food processing industry. The successful candidate will have a keen ability to provide value to Marlen customers by supporting the sales team through all steps of the sales cycle. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports sales activities involving Product Sales Managers, Regional Sales Managers, Solution Center team, Engineering and Current and Potential Customers.
- Communicates product information and other critical information with accuracy and a sense of urgency.
- Works with Product Sales Managers and Marketing to generate new sales opportunities. This includes scouring industry news websites for potential customers and researching customer information by job responsibility and by contact details.
- Uses CRM tool [please apply online] proficiently to input information, research account history and help manage opportunities.
- Assists with customer demo planning, logistics and reporting results. This can also include safely operating Marlen equipment, cleaning, and training others on it’s use and function.
- Assists with developing price quotations via WORD, margin analysis and maintaining updated product line sales documents.
- Manages administrative elements of the sales cycle which includes entering sales orders and participating in order review meetings.
- Acquires industry insights (sales forecasts, service needs, market trends, and competitor information) and shares with product management to strengthen company position.
- Achieves Trusted Advisor status with external and internal colleagues while displaying outstanding teamwork, integrity, and sales-oriented results.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent experience
- Assist Regional Sales Managers and Product Sales Managers in identifying high probability targets using online and CRM resources.
- Critical thinking skills and effective internet research
- Professional appearance, speech, and attitude
- Capable of handling and prioritizing multiple assignments
- Capable of completing tasks that are often self-paced and self-initiated.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM database management. Experience with Salesforce, Linkedin, Syteline, Microsoft Teams, AutoCAD a plus.
- Attention to detail. Outstanding grammar and proof-reading skills a plus.
- Develop strong Marlen product knowledge and of competitive landscape to effectively communicate features and benefits.
- Personal and professional integrity is required in dealings with Marlen and with customers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and type. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and kneel. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach and carry components with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a manufacturing environment; the noise level is moderate to loud. The environment is not completely climate controlled; temperatures can range from cold to hot.
