Your Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for cloud architects to join our IBM Cloud Platform Technical Sales team. Cloud architects develop and progress cloud opportunities for Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings. Deliver solution workshops, product demonstrations, technical education, proof of concepts, and accelerate the adoption of IBM Public and Hybrid Cloud solutions.

IBM Cloud Platform technical sales responsibilities:
  • Develop and progress sales opportunities of cloud platform solutions working with the IBM Sales teams
  • Provides strategic direction to executive decision-makers
  • Enable, support, and work with the Business Partner ecosystem
  • Develop re-usable industry-specific assets and demonstrations
  • Collaborate with other internal IBM teams to drive unmatched customer satisfaction
  • Establish deep technical account relationships with clients
  • Maintain an understanding of industry trends and business processes
  • Define, design, and detail the technical aspects and feasibility of proposed solutions

The position requires strong technical skills and knowledge to evangelize and develop solutions with both IBM Cloud IaaS, such as IBM Cloud for VMware, and PaaS, including Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud. Candidates should have public cloud sales engineering or equivalent experience. Solution expertise with SAP, Power Systems AIX/i, and/or Red Hat OpenShift are a plus.
This is a technical, hands-on, customer-facing role. Candidates must have the ability to earn the trust of customers and partners at any level, from executive to developer. We are looking for builders to innovate the future of IBM cloud computing.
Candidates that reside near or within the region are strongly preferred.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Demonstrable extensive pre-sales, post-sales, technical consulting, or equivalent experience in the cloud space
  • Experience working with C-Level executives on building/delivering advanced cloud solutions
  • Solution design experience working with public, private, and hybrid cloud models
  • Proven demonstrated skill and hands-on experience with a breadth of cloud technologies
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven track record of building consensus across diverse groups of stakeholders
  • A passion for delivering creative solutions that help customers solve key business issues through the use of cloud capabilities
  • Ability to be flexible and thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment



Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Solid understanding of IBM Cloud Computing Services (IaaS and PaaS)
  • Demonstrable extensive experience with Cloud Infrastructure technologies (e.g., virtual private cloud, object storage, block storage, cloud network connectivity, encryption technologies, etc)
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and microservices
  • Experience with Terraform/Ansible/Chef/Puppet and automating infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of DevOps and tooling
  • Cloud databases (PostgreSQL, EnterpriseDB, IBM Db2, Cloudant, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch)
  • VMware and related technology (NSX, Veeam, Zerto)
  • Certifications: Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration, RedHat OpenShift Operator Certification, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Certified Kubernetes Application Developer

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.

This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you.
