Some of what you'll be doing:

As the Director of Real Estate Asset Management, you will lead and direct the development and management of landside real estate assets of the Economic Development and Maritime Divisions while facilitating technical and strategic real estate consultancy Port wide.

  • You will develop, direct, manage, and lead a team of real estate professionals specializing in the leasing, asset management, maintenance, and administration of the Divisions’ portfolios of commercial, industrial, hospitality, retail, mixed-use properties, including management and operation of three conference and event centers.
  • You will determine how to best adapt and reuse existing real estate assets while eliminating obsolete space in order to create economic impact while adhering to sustainable management and development practices.
  • You will ensure sustainable land use methods and utilize the Port’s best practices in order to best serve its business and community needs through exploration of urbanization, conservation, and adaptive reuse while respecting the uniqueness of natural and built environments.
  • You will create and implement long-term strategies that contribute towards the Port’s financial sustainability
  • You will oversee the management of the assets of the department, operating and capital budgets and the related commercial, industrial, hospitality, mixed use and marina properties that generate approximately $35 million of annual revenue.
  • You will ensure effective Customer Service plans are in place and decide resolution of key issues for a customer base of over 500 Economic Development Division and Maritime tenants.
  • You will lead the development and implementation of Port policy to ensure consistency and compliance on a Port-wide basis for all real estate development and asset management.
  • You will be a member of the Economic Development and Maritime Division Leadership Teams and meet regularly with the Directors and leadership teams to set and implement the strategic direction for the Division.
Who you are:

Two years of experience may be substituted for one year of education:

  • Experienced – You have fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible work experience in real estate development, asset management, leasing and other relevant real estate activities. You have some experience formally leading and supervising staff.
  • Educated – You possess a bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business, Public Administration or a related field. You are also a Certified Property Manager (CPM) or a Real Property Administrator (RPA).
  • Desired – We hope you have twenty (20) years of relevant experience, preferably in the public sector and/or a master’s degree in business, public administration, or a related field.

  • Leader – You have strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage and develop a team with various degrees of skills, experience, and technical capabilities. You are skilled in championing initiatives and building consensus in order to gain support from various stakeholders.
  • Critical Thinker – You are forward thinking and proactive and can demonstrate effective judgement, oversight, and decision-making skills in a timely manner.
  • Effective Communicator – You have exceptional written and oral skills. You can present complex information and recommendations at all levels of the organization and to various audiences including elected leaders, executives, and members of the business community.
What else you need to know:
  • Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.
  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
  • Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid remote/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement – Effective, November 15, 2021, the Port of Seattle will require that at the time of hire, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be able to provide proof of their full COVID-19 vaccination status, as part of the hiring process. This is a condition of employment for all positions at the Port of Seattle.   • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within the first three months of employment.
