The Sales Consultant professionally promotes and educates Ophthalmologists and Optometrists about OCULUS products and services with the goal of achieving sales growth in the assigned territory (South Carolina and North Carolina). Drive sales by building a solid understanding of products and how they relate to practice management and patient care.
Essential Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- Collaborate with Executive Team, Sales, Business Development, Clinical Application, Marketing, and other departments to achieve organizational goals.
- Schedule and conduct personalized sales demonstrations to the MD and OD market.
- Educate and follow up with Ophthalmologist, Optometrists, and their staff on the operation, utilization, and application of products to ensure overall customer satisfaction.
- Achieve or exceed annual sales targets for region of responsibility.
- Establish and maintain customer relationships and provide on-going support.
- Review with customers the issues that are important to them; align OCULUS culture of customer success to the objective of the customer.
- Provide exceptional support when answering technical and clinic questions from customers with product related inquires, concerns, and issues.
- Facilitate clinical support through the company’s qualified clinical consultants for more complex or advanced questions.
- Attend local, regional, national, and international tradeshows to exhibit products and generate sales leads.
- Follow up with leads and provide frequent, timely, and accurate feedback to management regarding expected sales planned monthly activity.
- Understand product hardware, software, how to install instruments, and attach peripheral devices.
- Install equipment and provide thorough in-person training to doctors and their staff.
- Work with OCULUS, Inc. marketing team to develop suitable marketing collateral to promote products.
- Enter data in company ERP to maintain an accurate customer database.
- Develop and maintain a basic knowledge of how doctors evaluate patients and the role of OCULUS equipment as it applies to practice management.
- Develop and maintain a basic understanding of anatomy/physiology, conditions, pathologies and treatments managed by ophthalmologists and optometrists, and the role of OCULUS equipment.
- Participate in continuous learning to maintain current knowledge of the equipment, market, and innovations in the field of ophthalmology.
Qualifications:- High School Diploma or equivalent; Four-year college degree in business, marketing, biology, medical, technical, scientific, or related field preferred
- Prefer 2 years’ experience of proven sales experience
- Prefer 2 years’ experience in the field of science, medicine, or technology
- Clinical or industry experience in medical devices, ophthalmology, or optometry is helpful
- Certified ophthalmic technician or assistant is helpful
- Tech savvy; knowledge of hardware, software, and accessories
- Exceptional negotiating and diplomacy skills
- Have a positive attitude, be highly coachable, curious, and love to learn
- Exceptional work ethic, drive, and a self-starter; collaborative with all employees
- Strong written communication, verbal presentation, and training/teaching skills
- Ability to multitask and pay attention to details; great organizational skills to meet daily deadlines
- Strong listening skills to communicate with empathy
- Basic Office 365 knowledge (Email, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Physical demands and work environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear, have the ability to perform activities standing or sitting over a length of time, lifting up to 50 lbs., moving objects up to 100 lbs., and operating tools and equipment that require good vision and a steady hand
- Ability to travel about 90% of the time
- Ability to travel internationally; obtaining valid passport will be required
- Safely operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid motor vehicle license
