Leads the pharma partnership; business development activities for the Molecular Lab Customer Area (PCR and NGS) and is accountable for Roche's Global Personalized Healthcare Solutions Service revenue. Customers are pharmaceutical and/or therapeutic device companies who partner with Roche Diagnostics for their pharma services and companion diagnostic projects. Monitors work to ensure quality, and continuously promote Quality First Time.
- Leads business development for the Pharma Partnering effort, contracts management, and alliance management activities for the Molecular Lab CA portfolio that serves customers located globally. Plays a key role being a part of the Pharma Partnering team in achieving the overall business objectives.
- Establishes objectives and develops business strategies needed to increase the penetration of external (i.e. non-Roche Group) pharma accounts such as big pharma, biotech, private equity, and therapeutic medical device developers.
- Develops corporate alliances in conjunction with the company's strategic plans and implementation programs.
- Develops, maintains and executes a strong pipeline of new business and qualified leads across all different diagnostic testing modalities.
- Maintains a good understanding of the trends in the pharmaceutical industry and how they impact the companion diagnostic business. leverages these insights to support the strategic plan of the organization.
- Conducts research on emerging business trends and economic requirements of the pharmaceutical industry and researches, screens and recommends key target companies for business alliance.
- Works with Project and CAP/CLIA Lab leadership to ensure projects can be fully supported and delivered on quality and time.
- Closely collaborates with all functions (e.g. legal, regulatory, development) to align our partnership activities with the
- Works closely with the Oncology & Genetics Lifecycle Team on the partnership strategy ensuring alignment with the product development and commercial strategy.
- Sets organizational structure and develops tools and processes to drive efficiency and sustainability of the business.
- May manage staff as the business needs grow; provides staff with coaching, training and opportunities to develop skills, and gives ongoing, constructive and timely feedback on performance and progress toward goals and expectations.

Formal Training/Education
- Bachelor's Degree Life science required
- Master of Business Administration preferred
Experience
- 12 years business experience including prior tactical and/or strategic
- marketing and sales experience with a heavy emphasis on
- corporate business development.
- Previous experience in the Companion Diagnostics field or pharma partnering strongly
- preferred.
- Proven track record in achieving company goals through creation of strategic partnerships, including pre-contract negotiations and post-contract alliance management.
- Experience at assessing companion diagnostic opportunities for strategic fit with corporate plans.
- Experience with the establishment of contracts, development of pricing strategies and monitoring contract fulfillment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of worldwide pharmaceutical and in vitro diagnostic markets, including product development strategies, regulatory environment, relevant technologies and global commercialization.
- High level understanding of the different diagnostic testing modalities and ability to advise partners on the best technological options.
- Strong background and knowledge of next generation sequencing and PCT technologies Knowledge of and skill in managing, coaching and developing employees.
- Ability to identify market opportunities and develop and execute plans to capitalize on them.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and changing environment.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to function in an achievement oriented environment and serve as a strong motivator.
- Understands and is comfortable with scientific background related to both pharmaceutical and
- diagnostic products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to resolve problems collaboratively.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Santa Clara, CA is $173,700-$322,700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
