Summary:
The Director of Development leads the development department, responsible for all fundraising, community engagement, and marketing/communications efforts for the organization.
Position Reports To: President/CEO
Position Direct Reports:
o Development and Communications Specialist
o Community Engagement Manager
o Development Coordinator
Development Department Key Performance Indicators:
· Meeting or exceeding the fiscal year private sector revenue budget
· Increasing donor retention by 10% (or more) over the prior fiscal year
· Maintaining a 3:1 (or better) fundraising ratio for fundraising events
· Growing social media audience and reach
· Increase earned media opportunities
Director of Development Key Performance Indicators:
· Accountable for all development department key performance indicators
· Meeting or exceeding the fiscal year major gifts revenue goal
· Meeting or exceeding fundraising event goals
· Meeting or exceeding the fiscal year direct mail budget
· Meeting or exceeding stewardship calendar checkpoints
· Meeting or exceeding Capital Campaign fundraising goals
Director of Development Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide effective and supportive leadership to the development, community engagement, and marketing/communications departments with clear expectations for each role while fostering a positive, collaborative environment
· Create and implement an annual written fundraising plan complete with timelines, strategies, and goals
· Identify, recruit, and cultivate corporate sponsors for fundraising events
· Serve as staff lead from development to full execution of capital campaign
· Serve as staff liaison for select volunteer committees, including the Hearts of Gold and Philanthropy Committees
· Actively participate in other volunteer committees such as the Board Engagement Committee
· Identify and qualify prospective portfolio donors from the existing donor pool, as well as new prospects
· Create individual goals for each donor in portfolio based on giving history, capacity, and propensity
· Work closely with development team to create, follow and execute a stewardship matrix
· Provide donor data analysis reports to drive decisions on fundraising activities and initiatives
· Works with Development Coordinator to coordinate operations and logistics for accurate, cost-effective, timely and professional execution of Coalition events
· Create detailed event timelines with clear, measurable and attainable goals and deadlines; provide a clear schedule for completing action steps and identify who is responsible for each step
· Support and coordinate Development Department event activities, including major donor events, fundraising campaigns, etc.
· Manage the annual direct mail plan and calendar, including working with direct mail consultant to provide content and working with the printer to ensure timely, cost-effective solicitation pieces
· Create department budget, monitor progress and make adjustments as needed on an ongoing basis throughout the year
· Develop thoughtful and creative cultivation and stewardship tactics as part of a moves management plan
· Serve as a media representative for the Coalition, including participating in on-camera or written interviews with reporters, as well as coordinating and preparing interview opportunities for the President/CEO
· Actively participate in monthly Executive Committee and Board of Directors meetings, including preparing written and verbal reports, and conducting necessary follow-up to engage board members in fundraising activities
· Lead group and individual tours of campus for prospective and current donors, with the goal of increasing engagement with the Coalition
· All other duties as assigned

Other Position Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year accredited college or university
· Willingness to embrace and promote a Housing Focused/Housing First approach to ending homelessness
· Five years’ experience in the field of fundraising, managing staff, social service fundraising a plus, media relations experience desired
· Member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals
· Adhere to the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethical Standards and comply with all laws - national, state, and local - regarding fundraising on behalf of Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida
· Commitment to participate in continuing education to stay apprised of current fundraising trends and best practices
· Highly proficient working within a donor database system and Microsoft Office
· Experience with a variety of fundraising activities, including major gift fundraising, corporate fundraising, proposal writing, event sponsorships, and leading volunteer committees

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
