- To increase sales and distribution within his/her area of responsibility by providing service and communication to distributors and retailers.
- Contact all distributors at least once per week. Be present in the warehouses on a daily basis to communicate information on new items, promotions, contests, distributions, and sales comparisons.
- Help distributors with territory planning (Territory is Manhattan, Bronx, Staten Island)
- Work with distributors, on truck, at least three days per week, highlighting opportunities for increased space, better merchandising and new items placement
- Take active role in all Manufacturers/Company incentive programs
- Keep management apprised of all competitive activity and changes in the marketplace.
- Use company provided tools (tablet) to manage his/her business with the most relevant and useful information.
- Keep up with tracking, ranking, and publishing all sales trends within the particular division, and educating both store and distributor customers.
- Be available to distributors to check manufacturer’s defects, provide sales aids, equipment, etc…
- Participate in all sales meetings, seminars and training sessions.
- Handle all special assignments and complete on/before due date.
- Contact display accounts on a regular basis to arrange for off-shelf displays.
- Update distributor profiles, purchase comparisons, etc. on a regular basis.
- Place P.O.S. materials in accounts and replace when necessary.
- Deliver/pick-up checks/mail, when assigned.
- Assist in keeping distributor merchandise balances current.
- Assist new distributors, and work to develop sound ordering systems.
- Assist distributors in account exchanges, accommodation and sell-offs.
- Submit daily work with reports on time.
- Learn necessary PC functions to track division sales and analyze trends; pinpoint areas of weakness for development. (Updating company provided tablet).
- Project distributor sales increases for fiscal year; develop and implement plans to achieve them, while working to reduce costs
Skill Requirements
Self-starter who can work independently; Ability to keep up with technology standards; think on their feet; good communication skills; good decision making skills; second language a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to drive a step-van; valid driver’s license; able to work on trucks (getting up and down, lifting of product, etc.)
Working Conditions
Mostly field work, on truck minimum two days per week. Balance of field work in personal vehicle. Office in afternoons on open days (about once a week). Office is located in New Hyde Park, Long Island.
Experience
Minimum: 2 years working in food industry particularly as manufacturer’s representative OR related work
Preferred: Variety of sales and management positions in food industry; working with independent distributors
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
