Technical Inside Sales – Transit Division

Responsible for maintaining the best-in-class customer service, technical sales support, and product knowledge for a segment of the company’s business by addressing customer inquiries, creating quotations, processing orders and performing follow up on all aspects of the order. This position reports directly to the Sr. Product Manager. Primary products manufactured include pantograph assemblies for mass transit vehicles and grounding systems.

Qualifications

• Formal education in technical field or business-sales/marketing preferred.
• Proficient in Office 365 and some exposure to SAP or other ERP systems.
• 4+ years’ experience in a technical inside sales/service role with complex product and/or processes.
• Experience consulting with client and internal engineering team on product design features and applications.
• Experience with pricing development, producing quotes and establishing lead times for product.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read product drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional-strength interpersonal skills to maintain healthy relationships with customer base.
• Very organized and able to multi-task.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn to new concepts.
• Infrequent overnight travel for customer visits and/or trade shows. Travel to Schunk-Germany for training may be required.

Essential Job Functions (Job-Specific Knowledge/Skills)

• Quote, enter and confirm customer orders. Monitor order progress.
• Analyze product cost variables and lead times, working with engineering/sales to establish pricing.
• Examine and respond to all customer inquiries, quote requests and complaints promptly.
• Administer customer/government bidding process.
• Offer recommendations for product and process improvements.
• Provide inside sales support as determined by the product manager.
• Provide internal support to engineering and manufacturing.
• Coordinate special projects identified by business manager/product manager.
• Prepare all assigned reports and correspondence accurately and on time.

Development Summary
This Customer Service position requires a specific set of skills that would need to be refined through a comprehensive training program within Schunk. The success of the position is dependent on the employee gaining an understanding of many aspects of the business unit manufacturing processes, the customer, technical features of the product line, the Schunk business system structure and how these elements all interact.

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
