The Opportunity
The leader designated for this role will be responsible for scaling Steam's international division. The EVP of Sales will build their own team to sell new business, lead the strategy, and focus on profitable growth for their team and for Steam. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, this person is expected to be highly collaborative and inventive in their approach to tackling issues and process improvements within the company. This is a high impact opportunity with significant authority, which will contribute greatly to Steam's long-term success.
Leadership
- Hire, coach, train, and develop a high-performing team, focused on growth and detailed execution.
- Manage team towards established KPls and expectations.
- Collaborate with the rest of the leadership team to make quality decisions to continue to grow Steam profitably.
- Be a strong steward for Steam's culture and its focus on empowered and trusted team members.
- Foster and enhance relationships with customers, carriers and other vendors.
- Administer reporting requirements to team members and provide reporting to executive leadership.
Business Development
- Sell new international business in order to grow Steam's revenues and gross profit.
- Collaborate within the international division and across the drayage and domestic divisions to ensure we are maximizing cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.
- Travel as necessary to visit prospects, customers and vendor/carrier partners.
- Build and leverage systems for customer retention and customer growth.
- Develop and provide pricing to prospects and clients as necessary and collaborate with the pricing team to complete RFPs and RFQs.
- Boldly uphold Steam's maxims by adhering to all company procedures, values, and policies so that you provide an accurate representation of Steam to all potential and current customers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management or similar.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in international freight forwarding or third-party logistics.
- Strong organizational, analytical and self-motivation skills with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity and potential to go beyond the described role as the team responsibilities evolve.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels and functions of the organization.
