Full description of the position

California Closets is looking for the best of the best in the Interior Design industry. We need self-motivated, driven, direct-sales orientated individuals to deliver a superb, interactive in-home customer experience that achieves our aggressive sales growth plan that can manage and develop a growing a team.

Sales Lead Overview:
The Sales Lead role focused on leading by example to ensure that individual and team sales goals are met or exceeded. This includes achieving all key performance indicators while following the pursuit of an unparalleled client experience. This role ensures that the assigned Design Consultants are delivering on the California Closets standards of excellence with each and every client. The Sales Lead also collaborated with the Leadership Team to ensure that the internal process and procedures are being followed.

Individual Responsibilities:

  • Take a reduced amount of design appointments to achieve individual sales quota.
  • On individual sales - meet or exceed local and national sales metrics (lead by example on close rate, average job size, NPS, etc.).
  • Be a Brand Champion by following through on the vision and values outlined in our Credo and collaborating for the best possible outcome with clients and other departments.
  • When applicable, be responsible for managing showroom upkeep, scheduling, and special events.
  • When applicable, participate in the leadership/management of appointment distribution and scheduling oversight.


Team Responsibilities:

  • Manage a Team of Design Consultants to ensure all company sales goals and key performance indicators are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure direct reports are delivering an exceptional client experience with every client touchpoint throughout the customer journey.
  • Lead, develop, and coach underperformers following performance management guidelines to improve results including detailed documentation.
  • Collaborate with Sales Manager to ensure all training is tailored to the needs of the current design team and completed on time.
  • Ensure the Design Team has the appropriate mix of company-provided leads and personal marketing plan leads by working with assigned Design Consultants to create a Personal Marketing Plan (PMP).
  • Work with Sales Manager to schedule and facilitate monthly Sales Meetings including coordination with guest speakers and office personnel.
  • Analyze sales data and develop strategies to address areas of opportunity.
  • Coach and develop assigned team members by providing written feedback on our Sales Model during ride-alongs.
  • Review feedback through Listen 360 and follow up on all necessary responses with the customer and/or Design Consultant, communicate insights
  • and action to leadership.
  • Manage customer escalations to ensure satisfaction and update the team accordingly.

  • Design experience (3-5 years desired)

  • You have interior design, architectural, industrial design, furniture design, and/or art education or direct industry experience.
  • You have experience in customer service, or retail sales of any kind, where you are the main reason your clients keep coming back.
  • You have a natural ability to be consistently inspirational and create delightful customer and brand experiences.
  • You have a record of sales success.
  • You are tech-savvy. CAD drafting is a plus.
  • You are a self-starter, well organized, and have good time management skills.
  • You can confidently sell and promote a product you might not be able to personally afford.
  • You are creative, yet meticulously detail-oriented with a sense of craftsmanship.
  • You are a team player with the ability to manage a portfolio of projects and clients of different complexity in a dynamic environment.
