Summary The Applications Engineer will perform functions for the Applications Department, in the form of time studies, product demonstrations, trouble-shooting, and pre/post sales customer applications support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete time studies of customer production using Salvagnini software.
- Support Simulation activities as they pertain to study results.
- Produce samples as necessary to verify study results.
- Support other applications engineers when appropriate.
- Assist customers in the use of Salvagnini software.
- Troubleshoot customer application issues and recommend corrective action.
- Provide customer email and phone support.
- Provide onsite customer Applications assistance when required.
- Accurately report technical conditions and information.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Learn Core machine operation and programing.
- Interact with customers and company personnel in a professional manner.
- Assist Field and in-house Service Engineers as necessary
Education and/or Experience
- Previous experience in the machine tool industry strongly preferred.
- Experience in Manufacturing or CAD-CAM/CNC Programming strongly preferred.
- Sheet metal experience a plus.
- Salvagnini product knowledge a plus.
- Experience in AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications required.
- Excellent communication skills required, as this position involves extensive contact with customers. Must exhibit the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Minimum 2-year technical degree in Electronics, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent job-related experience working with CNC equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Travel
Frequent US and occasional international travel will be required, up to 20%, including weekends. You must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport. The individual must possess a valid driver's license, pass a motor vehicle record check, and have the unrestricted ability to obtain rental vehicles.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
The ability to recognize and evaluate technical issues and limitations is required. The ability to define and manage expectations is critical. The ability to make sound decisions and actions is required.Physical Requirements Candidate must have the ability to lift 75 lbs. without restrictions. Walking distances, transporting bags or cases through the Customer's location is required. Climbing steps and ladders, working in areas offering tight access is required.Direct Reports This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
