Job Purpose / Position Summary
Responsible for selling and promoting packaging products and value added services within a geographical area and/or an assigned account base. Identifies and successfully sells to new accounts, consistent with company practices. Required to attain sales volume and gross margin performance levels for core products and diversified market segments.
Key Accountabilities / Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan sales and gross profit generation activities on a long term basis.
- Develop yearly objectives for key accounts in order to meet or exceed budget each year.
- Have an accurate, detailed and comprehensive knowledge of the potential of each account in your territory.
- Make sales calls on customers and prospects at a frequency to exceed budgeted volume and gross margin.
- Develop a sufficient number of high potential prospects to guarantee future sales growth at greater than the market growth rate.
- Keep the appropriate Sales Manager and/or Regional Manager well informed, at reasonable intervals, on progress being made on: significant sales and account developments, as well as market, credit and competitive changes. These should be reported whether positive or negative.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships through joint planning, sales calls and target accounts.
- Investigate and resolve all customer complaints promptly. Evaluate source of problem and participate in resolution with all involved parties.
- Assist in the collection efforts of the Region on assigned accounts.
- Properly communicate announced product and price changes, availability conditions, and other pertinent announcements to your customers.
- Deliver products and samples as necessary.
- Maintain all system information in a timely, accurate and complete manner. This should include but is not limited to customer master, express order forms, customer unsold stock agreements, pricing, etc.
- Maintain all customer files accurately, including key personnel, sales history and potential sales data.
- Execute all paperwork in a timely, accurate and comprehensive manner.
- Foster a positive working environment with fellow employees and customers.
- Participate, when appropriate, on task teams to represent the sales perspective and promote company development.
- Participate actively in company sponsored training sessions, regularly scheduled sales meetings and Region functions.
- Review new product developments and sales techniques on an ongoing basis.
- Develop a complete and comprehensive knowledge of all products appropriate to your market or territory, including core and diversified categories.
- Acquire system knowledge (including ERP system) and competence, both operational and informational, to perform all functions at a professional level.

- Peers - Work with peer to ensure integrity through communication and teamwork
- Management - Receive general direction regarding work assignments and training
- Customers - Deliver excellent support to all internal and external customers
Minimum Education
- High school diploma required
- Undergraduate degree preferred
Minimum Experience
- 2-3 years’ experience in outside sales with proven track record of success
- Experience in packaging sales strongly preferred
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to develops and maintain business for the region
- Plans and manages the sales efforts in the region and reports results to the General Manager or Sales Manager
- Recommends sales strategies for improvement based on market research and competitor analyses
- Monitors market trends in the region and advise management of changes
- Makes regular sales calls on existing and potential accounts as directed by General Manager and Sales Manager
- Develops new business opportunities with new clients and existing clients and attend to all key accounts personally to ensure satisfaction.
- Valid driver's license
