Job Summary:
The Director of Business Development is responsible for leading the pursuit of new business and expansion/renewal business as applicable. A successful candidate will coordinate the complete sales cycle process including lead generation and prospect qualification and lead the cross-functional pursuit team by providing clear direction on deal strategy: pricing, service, value proposition and presentation message and medium. The focus for this position is on new sales contracts, team selling, and solution selling.
Essential Functions:
This position will lead client relationship management and business development efforts for growing the company. The successful candidate will identify potential clients and new opportunities in transportation and other sectors/areas of interest to the company. The position will develop a robust pipeline of work, cultivate existing and new client agency relationships, develop effective capture strategies for targeted opportunities and be able to win new work and increase regional sales.
- Lead the development and management of strategic account plans
- Create deal strategy, including pursuit plan, pricing strategy and proposal plan for prospect new accounts.
- Administer pipeline and maintain sales data accurately
- Deal closing and contract negotiation
- Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, services and other areas occurring in the market
- Develops and maintains long-lasting and meaningful relationships with clients as well as industry teaming partners; collaborating to find solutions to challenging projects and organizational issues.
- Monitors market conditions, innovations and trends, and competitors' performance, pricing, and sales strategies to maximize competitive stance.
- Conduct opportunity and client research.
- Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses-forecasts-budgets.
- Participation in industry and client organizations as a strategic part of client development
- Work with Operations staff to enhance the company's client relationships across Operations levels
- Develop client relationships through face-to-face meetings
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Skills and Education Requirements:
- 5+ years of industry experience required.
- 3+ years’ direct outside sales experience in the transportation industry
- Chemical or cryogenic transportation sales experience
- Must be result oriented and hands-on.
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing or similar field is preferred
- Anticipates and interprets customer needs to identify solutions.
- Interprets business issues and adapts work priorities in own area
- Up to 50% travel will be required for this position as needed to meet business demands.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $95,000.00 per year
