Full description of the position

Our purpose – Opening up a world of opportunity – explains why we exist. Here at HSBC we use our unique expertise, capabilities, breadth and perspectives to open up new kinds of opportunity for our more than 40 million customers. We’re bringing together the people, ideas and capital that nurture progress and growth, helping to create a better world – for our customers, our people, our investors, our communities and the planet we all share.

The Special Credit Unit Relationship Manager handles a portfolio of CMB and Global Banking exposures assigned to the Special Credit Unit for direct or co-management. This role will work with the LMU Head and Team Leader, as well as Line of Business & Credit Approval Unit colleagues, focusing on managing HBUS held medium and larger sized exposures, including those under an ABL structure. The SCU Relationship Manager will be responsible for maintaining compliance throughout the implementation of strategies to achieve objectives and maximize contribution to economic profit while minimizing sustained losses.

Here’s what you can expect:

As our Special Credit Unit Relationship Manager, you will oversee an assigned portfolio of diversified loans and commercial product situations. You will work in partnership with HSBC front line staff to identify deteriorating credits early and to mitigate risks with an aim toward providing guidance on restructuring into more acceptable terms. You will ensure that operational and administrative credit-related routines and records are accurately maintained while managing complete and in-depth reviews of financial and operating performance/risks, including updates for executive management. You will communicate directly with SCU customers’ management team and in certain situations, third party consultants. When appropriate and with Team Leader guidance you will influence other institutions within bank & partner groups to promote HSBC's strategy, working in both large group settings and one-on-one situations while recognizing that deals under SCU management may affect reputational risk and will significantly impact business unit performance.

For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $123,600 and $185,400.

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

At HSBC, our overall goal is to provide a competitive Total Reward Package, with an appropriate mix of fixed pay, and variable pay, as part of an employee’s overall total compensation and benefits. Variable pay generally takes the form of discretionary, annual awards (sometimes referred to as a “bonus”). Additionally, HSBC offers a wide range of competitive and flexible benefits designed to help you improve your health and well-being, finances, and lifestyle.

Requirements

Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

  • An excellent ability to evaluate problems and identify solution options along with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks and drive activities to their conclusion.
  • Strong credit and analytical skills with a minimum experience in the relationship management/credit field for seven or more years. Recognizing, understanding and communicating trends and assigning timely risk ratings within the portfolio.
  • Excellent partner management skills, with the ability to build relationships and communicate with a range of levels of seniority. You will be proficient at optimally presenting information and responding to questions from all levels of management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate recommendations, often under tight timeframes, in a sophisticated regulatory environment, with strong risk, issue and dependency leadership skills. You will have a background of successful delivery in a matrix management context.
  • The ability to quickly attain an understanding and adoption of new systems and processes and the ability to identify relevant information from internal and external sources and applying them within the portfolio.
  • You will maintain an in-depth understanding of a Finance control environment, and will likely have an appreciation for systems and data architectures, specifically in a risk and finance environment.
  • You should be a team player, with the ability to work together toward your goals while managing conflict and conflicting priorities.

As an HSBC employee, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities to ensure you have the right skills for today and tomorrow. We offer a competitive pay and benefits package including a robust Wellness Hub, all in a welcoming, diverse and inclusive work environment. You will be empowered to drive HSBC’s engagement with the communities we serve through an industry-leading volunteerism policy, a generous matching gift program, and a comprehensive program of immersive Sustainability and Climate Change Initiatives. You’ll want to join our Employee Resource Groups as they play a central part in life at HSBC, including the development of our employees and networking inside and outside of HSBC. We value difference. We succeed together. We take responsibility. We get it done. And we want you to help us build the bank of the future!

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
