Full description of the position

The Snow Peak Person is both an outdoor enthusiast and a passionate creative. The Sales Manager is responsible for strategic account relationships, developing profitable sales programs, managing the sales associates, and determining promotional strategies for retailers and distributors. This position develops new customer relationships, negotiates annual programs, and maintains internal communications and follow-up. To be successful, the Sales Manager will need to drive expansion efforts in alignment with regional plans and resources, serve as a leader and mentor with strong analytical skills, and maintain a profitable sales department.

This position is a full-time salaried, exempt position and reports to the Senior Sales Manager. The compensation for this position ranges from $80,000-$100,000 per year, depending on experience. This position is based in Portland, OR, with some opportunity for hybrid work on occasion. This position will travel up to 50% of the time in support of sales accounts, events, and tradeshows. Weekend work is occasionally required.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Manage Department Administration

  • Set sales team goals and targets in alignment with annual operating plans
  • Assign territories and maintain annual territory business plans
  • Provide monthly/quarterly/annual category analysis, including share development, retail space development, and brand/promotional activities
  • Maintain regular sales contacts with each strategic customer and distribution business partner, including periodic market visits
  • Consult with potential customers to understand their needs; identify and suggest equipment, products, or services that will meet those needs
  • Execute sales of all products and new items, promotions, and other sales initiatives to appropriate distribution business partner and/or strategic customers
  • Prepare agenda for rep and account meetings
  • Responsible for Sales Meeting planning and execution
  • Responsible for Tradeshow planning and execution

Department Strategy

  • Plan and implement strategic objectives that fulfill the mission and the goals of the department efficiently and effectively in collaboration with leadership team
  • Support Go To Market initiatives as it relates to sales planning and remaining well informed and connected on products, applications, technical service, training, and market conditions
  • Evaluate, improve, and report the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance profitability and qualitative results
  • Establish, maintain, and present reports to stakeholders
  • Engage in effective feedback systems to monitor and communicate operational and strategic alignment with interdepartmental objectives
  • Contribute to departmental budgeting and profitability metrics
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure the success of the entire organization

MUST HAVE

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree

Experience

  • 7 years of experience in sales
  • 3 years of experience in sales management

Skills

  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficient knowledge of compliance related laws and regulations
  • Proficient understanding of project management fundamentals
  • Advanced writing and documentation experience with demonstrated success in strategic messaging
  • Advanced expertise in excel and analytical analysis and reporting
  • Expert sales, customer service, and negotiation skills
  • Expert understanding of the financial and business acumen to drive profitability
