Full description of the position
The Business Development Manager Defense and Security identifies business opportunities in a variety of domestic and international defense, law enforcement and first responder markets. Locates new customers and develops, defines and closes sales.KEY DELIVERABLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identifies potential business opportunities across defense and first responder segments through networking engagement, contacting potential partners, discovering and exploring opportunities, trade show and industry event participation etc.
- Screens potential business deals by analyzing strategic fit, deal requirements, potential and financials, evaluating options, resolving risks and potentials, estimating partners needs and goals.
- Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements, leading proposal teams, developing and negotiating contracts, integrating execution requirements with business operations
- Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications and announcements.
- Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Discusses value proposition of current and potential new products by drawing upon previous healthcare sale experience to facilitate discussion regarding practical applications and product employment techniques during customer interactions.
- Supports all quotation, bid/proposal, and marketing literature preparation.
- Participates in day-to-day Business Development operations and sales activities to include general exhibition/demonstration support, strategy development, and marketing functions.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent number of years of experience.
- Veteran with a strong preference for combat arms, CBRNE or medical-focused MOS
- Minimum 5 years of related experience with successful history of closing sales in defense and/or state/local/municipal/international first responder customer segments.
- Strong Business acumen with customer/client focus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Results driven with tactical, strategic and technical capacity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
- Eagerness to travel to engage potential customers and partners.
