BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER in West Des Moines, IA
Position Summary
Shift is seeking a full time Business Development Manager as we continue to strengthen and broaden our book of business in Iowa and the midwest. Our target market is gaining more enterprise partners but this individual will be responsible for overseeing the entire sales lifecycle of small, medium, and large clients.
Our team will have your back during this process to help get new business across the finish line. Whether it’s adding a technical teammate to a discovery conversation to provide that expertise or adding the Director of Client Solutions to talk about what life looks like working with Shift long term, we’ll work closely as a team so you have the tools and people you need to be successful.
Your Day to Day
Your role will be both outbound and inbound sales, as well as managing all of the contracts, documentation, and revenue operations of the sales at Shift. Your day to day will be filled with various sales activities that move prospects through our funnel. You will be responsible for developing the Scope of Work (SOW) and proposals for all prospects and be evaluated on how you convert the prospect into clients. You will prepare weekly sales reports for the leadership team to provide transparency on efforts and funnel updates.
You will work with the leadership team and account leads to meet the revenue goals set by the company, including brainstorming with other staff to define the scope of the project, review requirements, and approve timeframes.
Ramp Up Expectations - Month 1:
- Ability to effectively use or willingness to learn how to use HubSpot CRM
- Ability to identify our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), engage and vet prospects using BANT (Budget, Authority, Need, Timeline)
- Attend local and virtual events and network / gain leads
- Leverage current lead list and begin outbound prospecting work
Ramp Up Expectations - Month 2-3:
- Speak confidently about Shift and the solutions we provide for clients
- Speak confidently about Shift’s case studies
- Begin building the Shift book of business by coordinating requirements, developing and negotiating contracts and integrating contract requirements with business operations
- Attend local and virtual events and network / gain leads
Working Environment:
This position is eligible for a hybrid working environment. At Shift, we are a casual working environment but when interacting with prospects or clients, we expect business casual. We will provide this individual with a computer, monitor and other baseline technology needed, within reason. You’ll have a robust tech stack including but not limited to Sales Hub Starter HubSpot (CRM), leads from ZoomInfo (sourced 2022), and Vidyard / Loom account.
Performance Expectations:
Quarterly evaluations will be conducted with the leadership team to ensure that we are meeting targets and objectives including revenue goals of this role. There will be both qualitative and quantitative goals set for you on a weekly and quarterly basis that should inform the day to day work you are doing.
Compensation Structure:
Baseline salary + commission structure commensurate with experience. Other benefits include:

- Work with leadership and development teams to respond to Request for Proposals (RFP’s)
