An Account Manager works directly with clients to ensure that their benefit plan needs and goals are met. The Account Manager is responsible for effectively managing their client’s annual enrollment periods, implementation of plan changes and coverage transfers. They build relationships with clients and provide superior and comprehensive day-to-day account management. Additionally, the Account Manager is required to maintain a strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance issues.
Job Responsibilities
1. Communicates effectively and professionally with clients, insurance carriers, and coworkers to build and maintain lasting relationships.
2. Actively and effectively manages benefit annual enrollment periods and the implementation of plan changes and transfers of coverage.
3. Serve as the main contact for the clients and assists with day-to-day service issues and concerns, such as eligibility, claim and billing issues, and the like.
4. Proactively acts as the key “go to” person for clients when any welfare benefit plan issues arise.
5. Responsible for the renewal, sending out RFP’s and presenting options to clients.
6. Responsible for maintaining the groups’ information on the Company’s software such as epic and Employee Navigator and other electronic files and data.
7. Provides professional and accurate employee communications to clients such as annual benefits enrollment period newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, benefits summaries, enrollment forms, etc.
8. Secures and maintains current and up-to-date benefit plan documents including amendments, Summary Plan Descriptions, policies, etc.
9. Thoroughly documents issues so comprehensive client histories are developed and maintained.
10. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of current benefit plan regulations, such as ERISA, COBRA, Section 125/cafeteria plans, etc. so is able to provide sound guidance to clients on these issues.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Licensed in health and life preferred, experience with Employee Navigator.
· Minimum of 3-5 years experience in the healthcare benefits industry working for a group, insurance carrier, broker, or general agency.
· Knowledge of group insurance (medical, dental, vision & life, disability, and worksite products)
· Understanding of fully-insured, self-funded, level funding.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office 2010 (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
· Experience with Employee Navigator and Applied Epic preferred
· Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to create formulas in excel and navigate spreadsheets.
· Excellent communication skills, including listening, speaking, and writing.
· Must be able to follow directions, be detailed, organized, and resourceful.
· Ability to work under pressure (tight deadlines & handling multiple projects simultaneously).

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
