Full description of the position

The Snow Peak Person is both an outdoor enthusiast and a passionate creative. The Sales Director is responsible for developing successful teams, strategic account relationships, guiding management of the territory sales reps / accounts, and determining creative ways to meet and exceed sales targets & goals. To be successful, the Sales Director will need to drive expansion efforts in alignment with regional plans and resources, serve as a leader and mentor with strong analytical skills, and maintain a profitable sales department. This position is a full time exempt salaried position with benefit eligibility and reports to the Chief Revenue Officer. Availability on weekends, evenings, and holidays is occasionally expected, and ability to travel up to 40% is required.

Go To Market Evolution

Drive Snow Peak USA efforts to continuously evolve global go to market eco-system. Work cross-functionally and collaboratively to develop the necessary tools, processes and calendar frameworks that support Snow Peak USA go to market efforts.

Team Evolution

Guide the Wholesale Sales Manager(s), Sales Specialist(s), Dealer / Customer Experience and After Service Teams. Partner with Chief Revenue Officer to architect a growing team consistent with the needs of the business. Focus on internal connectivity across functional departments that contribute to the day to day execution of the business.

Sales – Distribution, Channel & Strategic Account Management

Lead the efforts required to responsibly expand the wholesale distribution footprint for Snow Peak USA. Strategically and tactically influence key stakeholders that support the wholesale trade partners from sell-in to sell-through. Play an active role in directly managing key business relationships, while ensuring the team structure is set to support our field sales reps and entire account base.

  • Strategically lead sales with key business partners, ROW account base, and pro deals.
  • Work in coordination with Sales Ops / Experience Manager to launch after service initiative
  • Lead and implement the following on a seasonal basis:
    • Order Form Creation & Distribution:
      • Gear – Generated through work being done with Elastic
      • Apparel – Generated by SPJ Form from ID&P
    • Price Lists: Generated from creation of order form
    • Minimum Advertise Price Policy
    • Seasonal Sales Programs
    • At Once Sales Programs
    • Forecasting
    • Shop In Shop Partnerships
    • Sample Management & Distribution

Sales Operations

Develop meaningful programs, tools and partnerships to effectively support our GTM efforts. Build relationships across Snow Peak's key stakeholders to help execute the support of our strategic and wholesale partners. Establish the right processes and procedures that creates a positive working environment across functional groups. Specific actions below –

Overview

  • Daily: Order Processing Questions, Process Evolution
  • Weekly: Order Management Tracking / Reporting
  • Monthly: Monthly Business Review

  • SPS Commerce: Analytics, Fulfillment
  • Zendesk: High Level Reporting / Tracking Incoming Communication Trends & Workloads
  • Elastic: Oversee Seasonal Launches in Partnership With Sales Specialist Work
  • Asana: Project/ Workload Management
  • Systems Evolution: EDI Integration, Drop Ship Launches
  • Product Information Database: Partnering with Inventory & Demand Planning Team
  • Future: SPARC, Locally

Events

Play critical role in establishing Snow Peak presence at National, Regional and Localized events that bring the Snow Peak Brand to life. Lead the efforts to plan and execute internal events, consumer engagement and external tradeshows. Specific events below –

  • Sales Meetings: Spring | Summer & Fall | Winter, Seasonal Account Visits to PDX
  • Consumer Engagement: Snow Peak Way Camping Festivals
  • Tradeshows: Grassroots Connect (GOA), Outdoor Retailer, Overland Expo, Project

Snow Peak Japan Connectivity

Contribute to the crucial relationship and partnership with Snow Peak Japan. Establish the right cadence and connectivity with key stakeholders in Japan that support the Snow Peak USA business needs. Identify and lead efforts to close gaps as necessary.

  • R&D Participation: NPI Process
  • GTM Calendarization: Working with SPJ to Understand Snow Peak USA Needs & Aligning with Snow Peak Japan Deliverable Timelines
  • Annual, Seasonal & At Once Forecasting: Gear & Apparel, SMU Products & Co-Labs

Additional Contributions

  • Contribute to Setting Annual Revenue Goals & Targets
  • Guide Annual Operating Plan Initiatives & Effectively Manage Budget Frameworks
  • Contribute to monthly/quarterly/annual category analysis, including share development, retail space development, and brand/promotional activities
  • Resolve customer complaints, staffing problems, and other issues that may interfere with efficient sales operations
  • Remain well informed and connected on products, applications, technical service, training, and market conditions
  • Evaluate, improve, and report the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance profitability and qualitative results
  • Engage in effective feedback systems to monitor and communicate operational and strategic alignment with interdepartmental objectives
  • Develop employee career pathing by coaching, mentoring, and providing effective performance feedback; inspire a culture of learning and development
  • Communicate transparently and resolve conflicts to foster a successful team that encourages the appreciation of diverse perspectives as well as cohesiveness

MUST HAVE

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in sales
  • 3+ years of experience in sales management
  • 3+ years of experience managing a sales team

Skills

  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficient knowledge of compliance related laws and regulations
  • Proficient understanding of project management fundamentals
  • Advanced writing and documentation experience with demonstrated success in strategic messaging
  • Advanced expertise in excel and analytical analysis and reporting
  • Expert sales, customer service, and negotiation skills
  • Expert understanding of the financial and business acumen to drive profitability
