The Special Credit Unit Relationship Manager handles a portfolio of SME and Mid-Size Category A/B exposures assigned to the Special Credit Unit for direct or co-management. This role will work with the LMU Head and Team Leader, as well as Line of Business & Credit Approval Unit colleagues, focusing on managing HBUS held, small to medium dollar exposures. The Relationship Manager will be responsible for maintaining compliance throughout the implementation of strategies to achieve objectives and maximize contribution to economic profit while minimizing sustained losses.
Here’s what you can expect:
As our Special Credit Unit Relationship Manager, you will oversee an assigned portfolio of a diversified portfolio of debt and commercial product situations. You will work in partnership with HSBC front line staff to identify deteriorating credits early and to mitigate risks with an aim toward providing guidance on restructuring into more acceptable terms. You will ensure that operational and administrative credit-related routines and records are accurately maintained while managing complete and in-depth reviews of financial and operating performance/risks, including updates for executive management. When appropriate and with Team Leader guidance you will influence other institutions within bank & partner groups to promote HSBC's strategy, working in both large group settings and one-on-one situations while recognizing that deals under SCU management may affect reputational risk and will significantly impact business unit performance.
For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $87,900 and $131,800.
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

You’ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- An excellent ability to structure problems and identify solution options along with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks and drive activities to their conclusion.
- Excellent partner management skills, with the ability to build relationships and communicate with a range of levels of seniority. You will be proficient at optimally presenting information and responding to questions from all levels of management.
- Robust project management experience in a sophisticated regulatory environment, with strong risk, issue and dependency leadership skills. You will have a background of successful delivery in a matrix management context.
- Strong credit and analytical skills with a minimum experience in the relationship management field or related of three years. Recognizing, understanding and communicating trends and assigning timely risk ratings within the portfolio.
- The ability to quickly attain an understanding and adoption of new systems and processes and the ability to identify relevant information from internal and external sources and applying them within the portfolio.
