Then, we might have the perfect job for you! Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack, and Hotel is hiring an Special Events Sales Manager. Our ideal candidate is an experienced event professional that can provide a vision for success.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Responsible for prospecting, meeting and closing sales with short-term clients, small group clients, and one day special events such as weddings, galas, fund raisers, and similar as designated by the Director of Sales.
- Contributes to the company’s small group revenue and occupancy by partnering with existing accounts and developing strategies to solicit and negotiate contracts for hotel business account interest.
- Issue proposals and contracts, negotiate with clients, determines client’s needs; explains services available through the Facility. Prepares, confirms, issues banquet event orders, and diagrams for all users, to include, but not limited to, food & beverage, room set up, electrical & A/V services, housekeeping, and security.
- Responsible for all aspects of internal event planning (in-house meetings & Community Relations events), entertainment planning, external events as assigned and special projects.
- Prepare conference center information materials, I.E., information packets, menus, print shop requests, memos, and floor plans for clients.
- Use telemarketing and cold calling to qualify potential clients, and complete personal sales calls identifying customer needs and interests.
- Call past customers to generate repeat bookings and additional revenue.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of increasingly responsible sales or event coordinating experience with a casino, convention center, hotel, or related industry preferred. Strong computer skills, and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite required. Knowledge ofevent planning softwarerelated to catering and sales operations and hotel property management software preferred. Excellent phone etiquette, customer service and people skills relating to both internal and external guests, to include strong presentation skills. Must have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, detail oriented with exceptional attention to detail. Able to handle stressful situations in a positive and productive manner. Must have the ability to communicate detailed information, both verbally and in writing, with persons of diverse backgrounds. Primarily indoor environment. Long periods of sitting. Long periods of standing and walking throughout the facility. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends. Must be able to reach, bend, stoop and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.
Work Schedule: 8AM-5PM with Saturday/Sunday off **(Will need to work weekends as needed)
