Full description of the position

As the Client Account Executive (CAE), you will be in an individual contributor role primarily responsible for the management of strategic priorities, new and renewal business, as well as customer success in the assigned territory. You will be the relationship leader and key point of contact working with territory distribution partners to drive the company brand creating awareness of products, services, and solutions available. In this role, you will lead premium growth and retention strategies to increase share of wallet and profitability. You will collaborate with underwriting to analyze and price risk profitability, and improve overall portfolio and account performance. In alignment with GuideOne’s distribution strategy, you will also execute geographic distribution strategies, production planning, broker engagement, and pipeline development.


Responsibilities:

Client Success

  • Serve as the main point of contact for the territory’s distribution partners, creating valuable connections and building trusted relationships.
  • Manage all aspects of day-to-day client success and sales activities in the assigned territory.
  • Review and professionally handle inquiries from distribution partners with a commitment and focus on timeliness, quality, and efficiency.
  • Position the company as a lead carrier for focus niches.
  • Be a subject matter expert for company’s products and services.
  • Provide proactive outreach to distribution partners to promote GuideOne.

Distribution Management

  • Execute the territory’s business development strategy for the focus niche.
  • Utilize performance and key risk reporting tools like CRM software to manage assigned territory and share performance trends with distribution partners.
  • Drive financial performance of assigned territory exceeding premium and profitability goals.
  • Monitor and manage submission levels, hit and loss ratios.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with key distribution partners focusing on new and renewal business and profitability performance.
  • Perform annual sales planning and engagement segmentation to designate how you will work with and focus on each distribution partner in the assigned territory.
  • Conduct assigned territory reviews with manager and assigned underwriters, focusing on new and renewal business and profitability performance.
  • Stay current on competition, underwriting environment, and market conditions.
  • Cultivate existing distribution partnerships and make recommendations for appointments and cancellations based on strategic value.
  • Identify underperforming distribution partners and put in place performance improvement plan of action.

Underwriting Support

  • Support underwriting in the evaluation and review of submissions within our appetite, share market intelligence, and adhere to underwriting guidelines.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structures with distribution partners maintaining the quality of the risk and pricing as needed.
  • Provide administrative support and aid to assigned underwriters and distribution partners for resolution of issues.
  • Collaborate with assigned underwriters on pipeline management.
  • Suggest appropriate solutions while promoting our products and services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of commercial insurance territory management experience plus underwriting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance – preferably in the non-profit human services/education, religious institutions, and small business niches.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with distribution partners, peers, and senior executives without executive authority.
  • Ability to build and develop new partnerships and deeper relationships for GuideOne.
  • Demonstrable expertise with a variety of sales and insurance concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Documented relationships and experience developing and selling to large independent agencies, brokers, aggregators, and wholesalers.
  • Broad understanding of and connectivity to territories distribution marketplace with strong relationship building skills at peer group level.
  • Advanced ability to segment distribution partnerships and create engagement strategies using marketplace knowledge.
  • Ability to build distribution in new geographical areas.
  • Experience in working with underwriting personnel.

Recommended Qualifications:

  • Established record of meeting new and renewal business and profitability goals.
  • Well-versed in client management and detailed knowledge of large and complex national and regional broker structures and their local operations.
  • Strong negotiation and overcoming objections skills. Ability to negotiate best position and manage through conflicting priorities.
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must be able to prepare and interpret reports, spreadsheets, budgets, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Knowledgeable in analysis and presentation of data.
  • Ability to work remotely, utilizing independent judgement and creativity.
  • Strong degree of self-motivation, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to accept change and lead within a change-oriented environment.
  • Some overnight travel required to be visible with distribution partners to develop and maintain peer level relationships.
  • Experience with CRM programs.

Compensation:

  • $97,500 - $162,500 commensurate with experience, plus bonus eligibility
  • $107,400 - $179,000 commensurate with experience in CA, CT, MA, NJ, NY, and PA, plus bonus eligibility
