Overview:
The Mobility Safety & Performance business unit is looking for a full time Business Development Manager to support the organizations broad marketing and sales needs of the Crash Test Services group. The primary objective is to continuously drive revenue opportunities by both leveraging existing customer relationship while expanding Calspan’s reach to new customer’s across the Auto OE and Component Product segments of the automotive sector

Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities Listed Below – Compensation and position level commensurate with education and experience.
  • Identify and close new business opportunities for the Transportation Business Unit. Work directly with major government agencies, OEM’s and other commercial enterprises to demonstrate the value and expertise of Calspan.
  • Directly manage the designated core customer base from a retention and growth standpoint. Participate in the development of project proposals and spend the necessary time with customers to present and document the value and identify new opportunities. Develop strong working relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Develop and implement a strategic sales and marketing plan that clearly outlines the direction and milestones of our business development and marketing efforts for profitable growth that is alignment with our company strategic plan. Provide regular feedback for revenue/profit forecasts.
  • Professionally represent the company at various business conferences, trade shows and community events. Increase our visibility within the technical/lecture communities.
Qualifications:

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors or Masters in a business and/or engineering related discipline
  • 5+ years in related discipline;
  • Previous experience in a sales/ business development position or;
  • A combination of education, technical and customer facing experiences equivalent to above


Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Crashworthiness test standards and protocols
  • Automotive Occupant Safety testing
  • FMVSS test standards
  • NCAP protocols and test standards
  • Familiarity with IIHS test protocols and standards
  • Engineering principles, procedures and techniques
  • European and other foreign vehicle related test standards
  • Experience working with NHTSA
  • Experience working with Automotive OE safety groups
