Full description of the position

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinates business development services to clients utilizing a client-centered case management approach providing curriculum-based educational sessions, coaching, and guidance in the various aspects of creating and operating a small business.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in the research of best and promising practices within small business services models used to serve the tribal community;
  • Assist with small business development curricula through train-the-trainer and other capacity building methods;
  • Assist with presentations, workshops, and other educational sessions;
  • Maintain and assist with the development of collateral materials about business development services, including a program brochure, fliers, and other outreach materials;
  • Assist with outreach and recruitment through various community forums to identify prospective clients;
  • Provide information about Tigua Business Center (and other YDSP agencies), such as location of departments or offices, employees within the organization or services provided;
  • Transmit information or documents to employees and customers;
  • Maintain and update filing, inventory, mailing, and database systems;
  • Communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information;
  • Preform administrative support tasks, such as proofreading, transcribing information or preparing correspondence; handle multi-phone line system;
  • Coordinate planning, preparation, organizing and delivery of meetings and seminars; Files and documents;
  • Conduct assessment and discovery activities to develop and execute an individualized service plan for each client;
  • Provide technical assistance to clients in formulating business development goals;
  • Meet with clients periodically to review progress towards goals, identify other needs and provide coaching and case management services as needed.
  • Coordinate a speakers bureau in order to bring regional and national trainers and speakers to YDSP providing clients and community members with subject matter experts in various business related and capacity building topics.
  • Refers clients in need of small business loans to TCDC;
  • Educate clients and community members about universal services at the Tigua Business Center (TBC) and Tigua Technology & Enterprise Center (TTEC);
  • Participate in formative evaluation efforts to ensure that progress can be quantifiably measured over time in order to identify program strengths and challenges.
  • Work closely with city and county Chambers of Commerce, and any community entities in order to enhance existing business relationships
  • Provides oversight of the Target Tigua AmeriCorps members assigned to the Business Development Services.
  • Other position related duties as required and assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Associate's Degree preferred plus three years of administrative and/or entrepreneurial support experience; Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and be insurable; Bilingual - English/Spanish; must be able to pass a post-offer drug screen and criminal history background check.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABIILTIES:

Knowledge of small business development; planning and project/program development; business development best and promising practices; must possess excellent written and oral communication skills; must be able to generate correspondence to include narrative and reports; ability to establish and maintain good community relations and deliver effective public presentations; ability to work flexible schedule to meet clients after normal business hours and weekends as needed is required; must be proficient in MS Office applications; must be able to efficiently prioritize multiple duties; must display professionalism and adhere to strict confidentiality on all matters pertaining to the department; ability to set up and maintain alpha and numerical filing system. Ability to handle multi-phone line system; must possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to climb ladder and transport light equipment. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 10 pounds. The vision requirements include: close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
