Job Summary
As a Sales Agent at Gaslamp Insurance Services, you are responsible for qualifying prospective clients based upon their appropriate insurance needs. Once qualified you will complete online applications resulting in system generated quotations; send quotations and carrier documents electronically; request binding of coverage; respond to Underwriting inquiries; send information electronically to the Customer Service Team; speak to and correspond with prospects/customers via telephone and electronic medium.
Position Responsibilities
- Answer inbound and outbound calls to and from prospects/customers to ensure a positive service experience
- Obtain appropriate rating criteria information from prospects/customers to properly prepare/obtain quotations for the services/products needed
- Review insurance contract requirements
- Prepare quotations of products and services for applicants/customers
- Review/provide quotes obtained with the applicant
- Prepare insurance applications by entering policy application information into a computer system and submitting/remitting the request to the insurance carrier/market
- Respond to Underwriting inquiries
- Sell insurance policies
- Review and enter sales into our customer database, AMS (Agency Management Systems), cross-checking for entry errors, missing information and/or documentation
- Solicit updated policy rating information from insureds for the purpose of properly classifying and rating upcoming renewals
- Process policy renewals by submitting a request to Underwriting with updated exposure information resulting in a new quote for the new policy term
- Solicit the additional lines of business within an account
- Assist and mentor Account Executives/Customer Service Representatives in the servicing and growth of the business
- Rush certificates of insurance and additional insured endorsements (specific documents verifying insurance coverage that are needed for our construction clients to bid and/or secure jobs)
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year of related experience and/or training
- Verifiable Commercial Insurance Sales experience, preferred
- Current California Department of Insurance P&C Agent License or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date
- Ability to pass a licensing background check

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time 1st shift position. This position may occasionally flex between shifts depending on business needs.
The starting pay scale for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 hourly. This position is also eligible to participate in the monthly bonus program. Actual starting pay will be based on factors such as skills, qualifications, training, and experience. In addition, the company offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) plan with match, paid time off, and other benefits.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
