If you've had your driver's license for at least 5 years with a clean driving record, no moving violations or at-fault accidents on your license, and are willing to learn to drive our dump trucks (about the size of a box truck), we invite you to apply.

We are looking to fill both full-time and part-time positions. Weekend availability is required.

This might *seem* like it's just about removing items from a home or business. This is more than that. In order to be a successful lugger, you will need to be a people-person, ready to put a smile on our customers' faces by providing exceptional customer service, particularly when they’re overwhelmed and stressed with moving. And yes, there is lifting and carrying so you won't need that gym membership.

Responsibilities

• Explain our service and our benefits to customers so they understand the value of what they're getting and to facilitate purchase
• Provide exceptional value and service to every customer
• Complete all jobs according to company standards, practices and mission statement
• Safely sort, load, transport, and unload customer items in accordance with state and local laws
• Participate in key grass roots marketing efforts
• Help train new hires as part of a team
• Attend trainings, meetings & events
• Help maintain trucks and equipment
• Be diligent about safety and promote a safety culture at The Junkluggers
• Embrace continuous improvement & implement new practices when asked
• Perform other responsibilities as required

Competencies

• Excellent sales, interpersonal, & communication skills are a must – this is a customer-facing role

• Ability to learn and use technology in the field to execute job requirements, quickly & efficiently
• Learn skills of both Navigator and Driver positions
• Develop general understanding of resource locations in current territory (donation, recycling & disposal centers) and use them efficiently, keeping as many items out of landfills as possible
• Develop general understanding of truck operation, maintenance, and care
• Exhibit a strong safety attitude & be assertive in following safety practices and other company policies
• Report infractions, accidents, or other issues to management
• Ability to work well as a team in the field and show potential for advancement
• Ability to meet insurance requirements to be a driver

Job requirements

• 6+ years driving experience, with clean driving record. You do not have to have a CDL.
• Position can be full or part time, but you must be able to work in full-day increments including weekends
• Supply own mobile phone
• Ability to lift and carry 75-100 lbs. safely

Schedule

• Our operating hours are 7 days a week, starting promptly at 7am (sometimes earlier or later) and ending anywhere from 2pm-6pm depending on the day. We prefer not to schedule anyone for more than 5 days per week.
• Occasional overtime may be required
• Somewhat flexible scheduling
• Full-time (30+ hours) and part-time candidates will be considered. Must be available weekends.

Compensation

Starting base pay for drivers is $19/hour plus tips and incentive bonuses which should bring you to $23.75 - $28.75 (actual 2022 range, adjusted to $19 base rate). There is significant room to increase bonuses and to grow into higher paying leadership roles as the company grows.
