Job Summary
The principal functions of the Manager, Business Development are to focus on supporting and developing relationships with existing member organizations and to prospect for and enroll new members. This position ensures the members fully understand and maximize the value of CLS Member Benefits and participating in CLS networking events.
Primary responsibilities
Account Management
- Perform necessary market research to identify/engage/recruit new member organizations
- Achieve annual targets for new member recruitment and existing member retention
- Onboard and build impactful organizational relationships with new members at all levels
- Maintain accurate records of engagements and discussions with all member organizations, Incubators and Innovation Hubs in [please apply online] Facilitate the transition and membership benefits for Fellows graduating to Gold membership
- Utilize Salesforce.com to track and report sales pipeline and effectively present results to leadership during monthly, quarterly and annual meetings/calls
- Participate regularly in weekly team calls to discuss/inform around member needs and status
Business Development
- Represent CLS within assigned market segments to support our organizational goals
- Research and build relationships with potential new members to drive increased demand for CLS’s membership and Business Solutions programs
- Own and deliver an exceptional new member experience from engagement through sign-up
- Achieve growth targets for Business Solutions Programs with new and existing member organizations
- Work with Director, Business Development to develop a sales strategy based on the potential member’s needs, concerns and objectives
- Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, for networking and lead generation as well as keeping abreast of industry trends
Other
- Engage the community in CLS’s FAST Program
- Other duties as assigned
Scope
- Resolves a variety of issues while developing professional expertise
- Utilizes data analysis and project management skills are used to accomplish departmental goals and address challenges
- May manage hourly employees, consultants or interns
- May manage programs and work on internal and external teams, or work independently
- Reports to a Senior Manager, Director or Executive, provides regular status updates to them and relies on them for input
- Builds internal and external relationships and supports culture through daily interactions
Background and Experience
- 3 to 5 years of professional level experience. Minimum 1 to 2 years of directly related experience
- Minimum of B.A. or B.S. degree from nationally accredited institution required; degree in related major preferred
- Excellent verbal, written and digital communication skills
- Project management experience with extensive customer interaction and/or support experience
- May provide administrative and project management support to an executive or multiple executives
- Utilizes initiative to problem solve and succeeds in evolving environments
- Demonstrated record of sound political judgment and bipartisanship
Pay Range: $80-100k
