I. SUMMARY:
The applications engineer is responsible for the engineering and design content of projects & customer proposals for all assigned accounts. Performs all engineering calculations, expedite and process engineering changes. Direct liaison with customers for the resolution of technical matters as well as the development of products for customer projects. Responsible for interpreting design requirements and specifications and develop those into an engineered solution. Create toleranced, multiple component mechanical 3D models, 2D drawings, and part structures (BOMs) that meet the application requirements by utilizing knowledge and experience combined with standard design practices. They will also participate in and contribute to process improvement and design for manufacturability activities as well as in the development and implementation of company-wide design standards and practices that reflect industry best practices and improved efficiency.

*II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
- Creation of 3D models and associated 2D drawings
- Creation of Item and Part Structure (BOM) information within ERP system
- Develop and maintain 3D model and 2D drawing database within electronic Product Data Management (ePDM) system including Engineering Change Notice (ECN) processing.
- Perform checking duties on assembly and component level drawings.
- Updates existing drawings to current/best manufacturing processes.
- Work closely with manufacturing personnel and engineering to ensure design requirements are met and the best manufacturing processes are used.
- Participate in and contribute to process improvement and design for manufacturability activities.
- Support manufacturing personnel with evaluations of deviated components, corrective action investigations and other quality related activities.
- Support engineering process development and design for manufacturability efforts through specific assignments as directed by Engineering Management.
- Independently responsible for meeting deadlines necessary to support the company’s commitments to customers and manufacturing.
- Analyze product designs utilizing Dover Precision Components (DPC) tools and practices, interpret results and determine optimum solution to the customers’ problem. Prepare technical information for new projects to customers’ specifications.
- Develop close working relationships with key customers’ technical contacts, ensuring that business opportunities are recognized and responded to appropriately at an early stage. Significant customer interaction with respect to the engineering and management of projects, pre and post contract, for assigned accounts.
- Interpret designs, perform all engineering calculations, examine specifications, expedite and process engineering changes.
- Accountable for the successful completion of engineering projects
- Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals
- Participating in client/contractor meetings and resolving client/engineering and management project issues
- Ensure effective liaison within the Engineering group to build and maintain consistently high engineering standards and to drive relevant product development
- Support engineering process development and design for manufacturability efforts through specific assignments as directed by Engineering Management

*Qualifications*:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 0-5 years of related work experience
- Basic understanding of Engineering Principles and design practices
- Experience creating and developing solutions – problem solving skills
- Strong communication skills – Ability to interface with customers
- Familiarity with 3D CAD & strong computer skills
- Must be familiar with the impact of the manufacturing process on the key factors that control the form, fit, and function of a bearing and/or compressor.
